It’s Christmas time aP'^iin IQCc: i‘age 4, The Wake Weekly, Wake Forest, N. C., Dec. 24, 1965 L A. Woodliefs Host Couples Club Party Mr. and Mrs. L. A. Woodlief en tertained their Couple’s Bridge Club with a Christmas party at their home on Saturday, Dec. 18. There were four tables in play. Upon arrival, guests enjoyed a dessert course of pecan pie and coffee. The tables were laid with cut-work linen cloths and centered with a single lighted red taper encircled with holly. Following two progressions of bridge, high score prize for ladies was awarded to Mrs. Dewey Wig gins. High score prize for men was awarded to H. H. Reddick. The home was beautifully decor ated for Christmas with a tra ditional Christmas tree. The man tle in the living room was graced with a garland of running cedar caught with large red bows. Above the mantle was a small silver tree with red satin ornaments. Three red stockings were “hung by the chimney with care” for the three Woodlief children. cy chocolate rolls, assorted crac kers and sandwiches. At the conclusion of play, guests' were invited to a buffet table laid with mid-night refreshments and snacks. Sat urday, Wake Sheriff’s Deputy B. G. Munn picked up a man wanted on a fugitive warrant who had been living next door to a police officer. Munn said Danny Little McKen zie was wanted in Fairfax, Va. where he jumped bond. A warrant for his arrest was received by the county sheriff’s office in March. Munn said a chain of events led to his arrest Saturday. Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.” With these lines begins the fa miliar poem, “A Visit from St. Nicholas.” Today, this poem is a treasured part of the lore of Christ mas, often quoted and published at the Yuletide season. Surprisingly, the poet who creat ed it was far from proud of his work. Both Drivers Found Not Guilty Following Wreck Two drivers were found not guil ty in Friday’s Recorder’s Court of charges following involvement in an accident in front of the Semi nary Cafeteria Dec. 13, according to Police Officer Sa mDaVis. Another course on the Doctrine of the Holy Spirit wiU be taught in the spring semester, beginning January 24, 1966. This class will be taught by Dr. John W. Eddins, Jr., and also is opened to pastors who are seminary graduates. The offering of these courses to pastors is another effort of the seminary to encourage continuing theological education.
