NEUSE BAPTIST CHURCH NEWS
By Mrs. Velma Chambers
Watch therefore: for ye know
not what hour your Lord doth
come. Matt. 24-42.
You have heard the saying, “The
family who prays together, stays
together.” The same is true of a
Church, for we are one big fam
ily of God. We must give credit
for the success of the growth of
our Church, to our men’s prayer
band, who meet each Sunday
morning at 7 o’clock. There were
22 present Sunday morning. Mr.
Ed Mitchell was speaker. I was
told Mr. Mitchell did a marvelous
job.
There were 205 present for Sun
day School, and another over-flow
crowd for the 11 o’clock service.
Rev. Carey brought a very out
standing and timely message. His
subject was, “Signs of the Times
and the Coming of Christ.” H Tim
othy 3:1-5. Matt. 24:7.

THE CHURCH FOR ALL...
ALL FOR THE CHURCH
The Church is the greatest factor
on earth for the building of charac
ter and good citizenship. It is a store
house of spiritual values. Without a
strong Church, neither democracy
nor civilization can survive. There
are four sound reasons why every
person should attend services regu
larly and support the Church. They
are: (1) For his own sake. (2) For
his children’s sake. (3) For the sake
of his community and nation. (4)
For the sake of the Church itself,
which needs his moral and material
suijport. Plan to go to church regu
larly and read your Bible daily.
It has been said that a man is tallest when he is on his knees. The familiar pic
ture of George Washington kneeling in prayer at Valley Forge reminds us that the
“Father of our Country” was a man who walked close to God and who taught his
soldiers to pray.
Washington recognized that human frailty is not a sign of weakness — that it
is the first step toward finding the needed strength. To call upon God for the re
sources we lack is to supply our deepest want.
The example of our first President still points men to God. Just as George Wash
ington found God’s strength available, so do men in our time when they call upon
Him in faith. Discover Him in your own life. Worship God in your church next
Sunday.

My Quest
I do not ask for glittering gold,
nor diamonds’ wondrous shine.
I do not ask that mansions great,
nor palaces be mine.
I do not ask for brimming cup,
nor wealth’s? swift-tarnished
fame.
I do not ask for man’s applause,
nor yet a brilliant name.
I do not ask for bounties rich,
nor tables laden sweet.
I do not ask for roving field,
nor servants at my feet.
I ask for faith, for trust, for hope,
salvation offered free,
My sins made white beneath the
blood of Christ who died for me.
I ask not for a mansion, nay,
but for a refuge sure,
Within the arms of one Divine,
His blood to make me pure.
I ask for strength to face each day,
and rest to bear the night.
I ask for bread to feed my. soul
and on my pathway light.
1 ask for peace, for love, for joy,
for blessings to abound,
The answer to this quest of life,
in finding Christ I found.
