“0 give thanks unto the Lord,
for he is good: for his mercy en-
dureth forever. Psalm 107:1
Thanksgiving
Once again our glad thanksgivings
Rise before our Father’s throne,
As we try to count the blessings
Of the years so swiftly flown;
As we trace the wondrous workings
Of his wisdom, power and love,
And write our “Holy, Holy”
With the seraphim above.
As we gather ’round our firesides
On this new Thanksgiving Day
Time would fail to count the bless
ings
That have followed all our way;
Grace sufficient, help and healing
Prayer oft answered at our call.
And the blest of all our blessings
Christ Himself, our all in all!
While we love to count the blessings
Grateful for the year that’s gone.
Faith would sweep a wider vision,
Hope would gaze yet farther on;
For the signals, all around us
Seem with one accord to say,
Christ is coming soon to bring us
Earth’s last, best Thanksgiving
Day.
Sunday, Nov. 19 marked the
third Sunday in our “Hold Forth
Your Light” campaign with many
departments meeting their goals, j
We are especially proud of our,
young people’s department. The ]
leader, Mr. Titus Dickerson inform
ed us that each class had met their
goal so far. We are expecting a
great victory at the close of the
campaign.
Rev. H. W. Carey brought a won
derful message at the 11 o’clock!
hour to a great congregation on
the subject “The Judge and Judge
ment”, Rev. 20:11-15. Our hearts
rejoiced to see one young lady go
forward. Eddie Satterwhite join
ed the church for baptism.
The men who attend the early
morning prayer service and
breakfast always report a won
derful time of blessing from God
and fellowship with each other.
Ralph Woodard was the speaker
Sunday.
Sunday night our choir director,
Mr. Kay Hill led a wonderful song
service and the choir sang a cou
ple of new arrangements. The Self
Trio and the Lawrence Trio each
sang.
Rev. Carey brought an outstand
ing message “Valleys” Nehemiah
2:13. This subject explained why
Christians are in the valleys so
much rather than on the mountain
top with God.
If you like the true old fashioned
gospel preaching, and spiritual
singing, visit Neuse Baptist Church
soon. You will always find a warm
welcome and will receive a bless
ing.

It shone from a cabin window
Through silver maple trees.
It was only a brass oil lamp
Glimmering in gentle breeze.
"^THE CHURCH FOR ALL . . . ALL FOR THE CHURCH
The Church is the greatest factor on earth for the building of
character and good citizenship. If is a storehouse of spirituaf
values. Without a strong Church, neither democracy nor civ/7i-
zation can survive. There are four sound reasons why every
person should attend services regularly and support the Church.
They are: (1) For his own sake. (2) For his children's sake.
(3) For the sake of his community and nation. (4) For the
sake of the Church itself, which needs his moral and material sup
port, Plan to go to church regularly and read your Bible daily-

People may get an education
from reading the fine print, but
what they get from not reading
it is usually experience.
There are millions of men in this "world whose word
is trusted—whose handshake is a binding contract—
whose integrity others accept without question.
"We’ve come a long way from the days when a
strong man and a stout club were the social graces.
And this growth in man’s capacity for integrity
has paralleled his growth in religious expression.
Of course, the cynics will point to men and nations
who still live by the code of the cave man. Must we
believe that the clock of progress has turned . . • is
running backward?
The sound, the sensible, the sincere still feel the
strength of God’s Bible in every handshake. With their
children they are finding new spiritual opportunity
and hope in the chqrches they cherish.
Are you with them? Are you, too, pushing forward
the frontiers of faith?
