CLO COMMUNITY LIAISON ORGANIZATION for SUPPORT, EDUCATION and REFORM November 1987 Asheville, North Carolina No. 3 It's already Fall! . Where does the time go? Heading into November, C.L.O.S.E.R. has a full schedule planned, and we are excited about the upcoming activities. Here is the November schedule: NOVEMBER EVENTS —— 11/3 - A March Review. Come see and hear what went on in Washington on October 11th. There will be a video shot by GARRY, slides taken by ROBIN and LIZ, plus discussion of news coverage, personal reaction to being a participant in the March, etc. 11/10 - "Bring It All Back Home". We will focus tonight on bringing to Ashe ville all we learned and experienced in Washington. What do you think should be happening in the Gay and Lesbian community here? How can we maintain the enthusiasm of Washington throughout the coming year. Following a general discussion, we will break up into smaller groups ' to talk. It is your community — Let's be active in Asheville!! 11/17 - PROFILES. Four of our group will be profiled in detail by RICHARD. This is always an interesting program to get to know some of our friends in depth. 11/24 - ANNUAL THANKSGIVING POTLUCK AND SQUARE DANCE - Once again we will be fortunate enough to have "Too Hot To Cook" play for our Thanksgiving Square Dance. Bring your favorite covered dish and come prepared to eat well and dance. Remember!! We need to dance in stocking feet to protect the floor, so wear heavy socks. §§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§ NEWS NEWS NEWS The C.L.O.S.E.R. Executive Committee will meet at 6:30 on November 17th. Remember that this is an open meeting to any C.L.O.S.E.R. member, so if you have comments, concerns, etc., please know that you can attend. ROBIN would like anyone's input regarding ideas for publicity concerning C.L.O.S.E.R. and especially our more social and political meetings. At present, we are listing our monthly events in the bars, at Malaprops, and at certain other places in town. The idea of purchasing a portable P.A. system for the group was brought up at last week's meeting. It was the consensus that such a system is needed so that we can all hear our speakers and each other. Also, the system can be used to hook up to a VCR when needed, and this sound will also be amplified and much clearer. The cost for this will be around $125-135. Hopefully we can raise most of this amount through pledges. Please let the Exec utive Committee know your thoughts on this. (over)
