COMMUNITY LIAISON ORGANIZATION for SUPPORT, EDUCATION and REFORM APRIL, 1988 ASHEVILLE, NC No. 8 HAPPY SPRING! That is, unless we get a foot of snow like last year, is C.L.O.S.E.R.’s April meeting schedule: Here 4/5 EASTER/PASSOVER POTLUCK DINNER. As is the custom, we will hold our annual potluck dinner in celebration of Easter, Passover, Spring, etc., whatever your belief system desires. Bring a covered dish and come for an evening of fellowship and socializing. 4/12 HOLOCAUST REMEMBERANCE. Tonight will be a full evening and therefore we will begin promptly at 7:45 p.m. There will not be a business meeting tonight and announcements will be held to a minimum. First of all, a troupe of actors from Warren Wilson College will present an adaptation of the award winning play Bent. This explosive drama by Martin Sherman depicts the atrocities inflicted upon gays in Nazi Germany. Tonight's adaptation, directed by Dave Rhodes, features Ben Kimmel, Timothy Kulin, and Robert Ballard. (It should be noted that the play contains graphic violence and explicit language.) Following this, poet Christina Pacosz will read some of her own poetry inspired by her recent visit to Poland. Ms. Pacosz visited Auschwitz and other sites of Nazi cruelty during this trip and was profoundly moved by what she saw. Prior to moving to Charlotte, Ms. Pacosz was active with gay and lesbian groups in Seattle. 4/19 HOMEOPATHIC/NATUROPATHIC MEDICINE & ACUPUNCTURE. Ms. Cissy Majebe', the founder and director of the Chinese Acupuncture and Herbology Clinic here in Asheville, will inform us this evening about these alternative forms of medicine. Contrary to what many of us grew up thinking, western medi cine is not the only answer to illness, pain, etc. Ms. Majebe' has her Masters of Science degree in Exercise Physiology from the University of Southern Mississippi and one year of doctoral studies at the University of.Virginia concentrating in Health Education and Stress Management. This should be a most interesting evening in our series of programs dealing with health issues. 4/26 MEN'S SPIRITUALITY. To balance last month's program on women's spiritual ity, Ron Lambe will introduce us to some similar issues of particular interest to men in the area of spirituality and "religion." §§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§ NOTES OF INTEREST The C.L.O.S.E.R.
