Sharp Shooters Honored by Club Dr. John W. Eastes walk ed away with the majority of trophies awarded at the March meeting of the Olin Gun Club. The awards were presented on the basis of competition among mem bers during 1970. Trophies were awarded to the first and second place winners, and a ham was given to each member tak ing third place in the vari ous divisions. In the differ ent events the first, second and third place winners, re spectively, were: Skeet— Cecil Morgan, Dr. Eastes and Owen Lee; Trap—Dr. Eastes, Lee and Morgan; Shotgun Novelty—Dr. Eas tes; Pistol—Dr. Eastes; Dick Gustafson and Lee; Pistol Novelty—Gustafson; Target Rifle—Dr. Eastes, J. R. Gest, and Gustafson; Light Rifle—L. A. Rasmussen, Dr. Eastes and Gustafson; Rifle Novelty — Gustafson; and Season Iron-Site Target Rifle—Glenn Winston. The 1971 officers of the club assumed office and pre sided at the March meeting. They are: Rasmussen, Presi dent; Leo Reid, Vice Presi dent; and Gest, Secretary and Treasurer. Double Honors Go To Gliners' Sons Sons of two Olin em ployees were awarded the prized Morehead Scholar ship for college work at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. They are George Patrick Bohan III, of Brevard, son of G. P. Bohan, Manpov/er Development Manager in the Industrial Relations De partment; and John C. Kei- fer of Asheville, whose fa ther, John L. Keifer, is Ma nager of the Film Evaluation Group in the Film Division (Continued on page 5) April 1971 Long Weekends Follow New Holiday Plan This is the year of the three-day weekends. For us at Pisgah Forest, as at many Olin locations elsewhere, eight of the nine holiday schedules will involve Fri days or Mondays. It is a matter of both calendar coincidence and the new Federal Monday Holiday Law. With New Year's Day on Friday, Christ mas on Saturday, and July 4 on Sunday, the holiday po licy gives us three long weekends in addition to the two long weekends offered by Good Friday and Labor Day holidays. There is a further coinci dence that increases the number of long weekends this year to a total of nine. The policy that allows ob servance of Saturday holi days on Fridays and Sunday holidays on Mondays, puts December 31 into holiday position because of New Year's Day 1972 occurring on Saturday. This predomi nance of long weekend holi days will occur only rarely, but our following the Feder al Monday Holiday Law will assure us of five long week- ends per year: Third Mon day in February, Good Fri day, last Monday in May, Labor Day, and second Mon day in October.
