32 Seagle Writes Thanks For Pole and Picture Union Hall gained both a new flag pole and a large aerial view of the Pisgah Forest plants in the third quarter. Shortly after the flag pole was erected, UPI Local Presi dent Paul D. Seagle wrote the following letter to John S. Candler, director of employee and com munity relations. “The Officers and Membership of Local 1971 are taking this oppor tunity to express our deepest appre ciation both to you and the Olin Corporation for the generous gifts and for allowing our hourly em ployees to construct and erect the flag pole located in front of Local 1971. It is certainly a welcome addition and adds much to the beauty of our home. “At the same time we're saying thank you for the beautiful pic ture of the Olin Corporation that was given to us. It is hanging in the lobby of Local 1971 and has been admired by rpany who visited us. “Please convey our appreciation especially to Frank McGibboney, Frank Gash and all those who had a part in the most welcome addi tions to Local 1971.” APPOINTMENTS DAVID S. PIERSON has been ap pointed supervisor of materials planning and order entry in the Ecusta Paper Division. He was employed by the Liberty Life In surance Co. before joining Ecusta’s Rod Department in September 1962. He later worked as materials planner in Pro duction Control, and was inven tory planner prior to his re cent move. He is a native of Brevard and attended Brevard High School, completing high school requirements while in Texas. He later attended Western Carolina University at Cullowhee. In response to a suggestion by Gene Allison, vice president of UPI Local 1971, scrap material was made available for fabrication of a Union Hall flag pole.
