EMPLOYEE PLEDGES TO UNITED WAY
FOR 1976 ARE AT A RECORD HIGH
Olin employees at Pisgah Forest
topped all previous United Way
pledges at this industrial complex
by earmarking $27,406.83 for the
United Way organizations of Tran
sylvania, Henderson and Buncombe
counties.
The corporate contribution of
$15,000 brings overall total to
$42,406.83. Distribution of the
Olin grants is based on the number
of employees living in the three
counties, Transylvania being the
largest by far. The $15,000 is pro
rated at $10,500 for Transylvania,
$3,000 for Henderson, and $1,500
for Asheville-Buncombe.
Transylvania’s United Way organ
ization is thus pledged a total
$32,052.10 for 1976. Other totals
are $7,135.48 for the Henderson
County United Way and $3,219.25
for the Asheville-Buncombe United
Way.
Over $3,000 of the 1976 pledges
was received as cash contributions
and has been sent to the United
Way organizations in accordance
with employee designations.
The substantial increase in em
ployee contributions over those of
previous years was said by Group
President Garza Baldwin, Jr., to
be directly attributable to the three
co-chairmen who directed the cam
paign, to the full support of em
ployees and Local 1971 United
Paperworkers International, and to
the many persons whom the co-

OLIN TAKING PART
IN WNC TRADE FAIR
The Pisgah Forest plants will
be a major exhibitor at the WNC
1976 Industrial Trade Fair in the
Asheville Civic Center Jan. 29
through Feb. 1.
Tickets to the event will be avail
able to employees and their chil
dren who will see on display many
of the photographs that were ex
hibited at the Open House in 1974.
Enlarged Transparencies have been
made of a number of the color photo
graphs. These will be backlighted
in display cases.
A new photo exhibit using several
of the back-lighted color trans
parencies will trace flax from a
South Dakota farm where the crop
is a mass of blue flower, through
