Thursday, January 21, Tage Fourteen RALEIGH CHRISTIAN ADVOCATE Methodist j)rphanage. A. S. BARNES, Superintendent MRS. MATTIE JENKINS, Matron. Send money to the Superintendent by Check, Pcstoffice, or Express Money Order, or Reg istered Letter. Form of Bequest. I give nd bequeath to the Methodist Or phanage situated at Raleigh, N. C, (Here designate the bequest.) A donation made from the follow ing list will be highly appreciated by every one of our two hundred and thirty children: Flour, meal, peas, meat, cheese, butter, sugar, rice, grits, all kinds of canned goods, fresh pork and fish; also quilts, blankets, table cloths, stockings, ready-made suits, caps and anything else that is needed in a large family. 11 U H For the past two months the weather has been unusually bad. Because of this reason the attend ance upon the Sunday-school ser vice has been very small. A large number of schools and organized classes have fallen behind with their monthly offerings and pledges. I am sure they will catch up just as soon as the weather becomes milder. Our friends realize that this is go ing to be the hardest year in the history of the Orphanage. For that reason none are going to be "slack ers". It is a time when all must "go forward" in providing ample support for our Orphanage which has such a big place in the affec tion of our people. U H II The Baraca Class of Farmville, under the wise leadership of Broth er John T. Thorne, has taken a de cided stand in favor of our Orphan age. The class has just sent me $10.00 for the support of one of our boys who came from that charge. They have promised to send $10.00 each month. Since taking this for ward step. I confidently expect the class to increase in membership and enthusiasm. In behalf of the Meth odist Orphanage I wish to extend our hearty thanks to them for such substantial help. II H U Many of our Sunday-schools, churches and friends remembered us during the glad Christmas season. It has been a source of deep regret to me that I could not mention each of them in these notes. I can-not refrain from a few words about the great offering that the Sunday school at Miorehead City sent us. Brother Charles S. Wallace, one of our best and most prominent lay men, writes: "I enclose you check for $184.50, together with two boxes of oranges and apples sent you by this morning's express. These represent the Christmas offering to the Orphanage from our Sunday school." I call that a fine record. For such kindly remembrance the Orphanage feels profoundly grateful. u H H I trust that our many friends who have not hitherto assumed the privi lege of supporting a child, will be-ir in mind that the campaign is on to secure as many as fifty-two. So far, we have gotten four- one for each week in the New Year. Brother Polie Gardner, of Smithfield, is the fourth person to come to our help. It will be mutually helpful to the individual and to the Orphanage to respond to this appeal. Where er.,n we invest our money to a better ad vantage? The Orphanage lies close to the heart of our Methodist folks and now let us prove our devo tion to it by sending a check or prbmising to do so later. The fol lowing are on the Honor Roll: Mr. C. C.
