Another of the Councilmen Relieved ' to Have Squealed. Pittsburg, Pa., March 26. Another of the councilmen, one that has been charged withj being "one of the ring leaders, is believed to have weakened today and to have told his story of the graft conspiracy to the district attor ney: This step and-the unusual ac tivity of county detectives serving to v Indicate to councilmen that, any sud den ; departure from town 'would be hazardous, were the only develop ments of the day in the graft cases. 'Charles Stewart, with his attorney, former Governor W. A. Stone, called on District Attorney Blakeley today , and shortly afterward Assistant Dis trict Attorney Seymour followed by a corps of stenographers flocked to Blakeley's office. Three hours later, , when they emerged, Blakeley and Sey mour were smfling, but would give out no definite statement. The district attorney, however, has repeatedly an nounced that Stewart held the key to some of the "big ones" implicated in the graft conspiracy. Blakeley knows the whole story of the bank deals, and he knows when the truth is being told. ' If Stewart has made a clean breast of it, indictments against cer tain bankers are assured. Stewart called on Blakeley several days ago. What he said then .was un satisfactory, and the district attorney told him 'that' when' he was ready to tell the truth, to come back. The grand Jury yesterday, in its present ment, said Stewart, was the man who was paid $45,000 in the hotel Imperial, ' New York. The name of the man who paid it is known and Stewart's evi dence would be in the line of corro boration. , Judge Robert S. Frazer, expecting that a few of the accused would be scared into "rushing for cover" at this late hour, sat in court to receive the pleas of any who cared to come for ward. The failure of any . of the accused men to come to the front indicates that it is to be a finish fight between the accused mei who have not con fessed and the. district attorney. Interest today centered .about the meetings of the directorate of banks named by the grand jury. The sub ject of a reply to the district attor ney's demands was not taken up at the Columbia National Bank or the German National of Pittsburg, while the former deposit bank announced that it would readily comply. The Second National directorate prepared ' a statement signed and certified, as ordered and forwarded it to Harrison Nesbut, foreman, of the erand 1urv. The German National Bank, of Alle gheny, had no statement to make, while the Working Man's Savings and Trust Company held no meeting. SENSATION AT ARMY INQtJlRY. The discovery of the body today im-i mediately brought a second search of Wolter's vacated apartments and a strict cross-examination of the tenants adjoining. Folri :, it Kendrick, 114 Market street. no 27 tf. 1 JUST TWO WEEKS AGO TODAY the first notice that Castle Heights was on the market was given. At the same time we, began, to .finish the work needed in several places. Carts or hauling sand, scoops for uttlna down hl!a and a large number of la borers .began work.- Since March 13th our lucky day a great improvement has been made, and today the entire property is in better shape than ever before. The work continues. Before next Saturday the 150 select trees or dered for us by Mr. Will Rehder. wilt be planted and the property will look even finer than now. The building of the iew houses steadily goes on, slow ly out surely, and a number of the re cent purchasers are deciding what kind of houses to build. In the next few weeks Castle Heights will be one of the busiest places in busy Wilmington.- -The sale of the lots has proven their value. Each purchaser has seen the property before buying. Each one has had time to consider carefully the question ami in two weeks over 60 lota have been bought. Proof conclusive that the. value , is true. It's there in the property. A great many have paid cash, the others took advantage of the $Z5 dowfK.and the remainder in easy monthly or weekly payments. - There are a limited number of choice lots not yet sold. Won't it pay you to in quire about them. The 60-odd people knew It paid them, why not you? Don't you wctiik. iu .. gvtn . uiuuci kTi ouiiu , home for yourself or some one else to live in? There will come no better, easier chance than this. - Come down and visit Wright's Agency. 124 Prin cess street. Let them, tell you of the proposition; then do as your good judgment and sense directs. A little saved each week or month and the property is yours. Special Notice This is absolutely the last week of the special sale of Castle Heights lots at present prices. After Saturday, April 2nd, prices on lots then unsold will advance, 10 per cent. j mar 27-lt. A CARD. Wilmington N;.C. Mcn,;27th, 1910. ' To "Many, Voters" of New.
