year, it was announced - today, would

gress for the military establishment

Practically the only item increased
will be for field artillery and 'ammu
nition. Officers. of the army contend
there is a sorry lack of field artillery.
In this connection. Gen. Wood, chief
of staff -of the army, said in his last
annual report . to r the Secretary of

artillery constitutes one of the great
menaces ' to our country. In case of
