DAY'S NEWS fMlffl MEIBB Carolina Metal Products Company, Wilmington, to Build 'Sidetracks Tramway Company Ch - tered Turnout Stolen , of (Special Sar. Correspondence.) Raleigh, N. C, Dec. 11. The Cor poration commission issued an order today lor the construction of two side tracks in the southern section of Wil mington for the Carolina Metal Prod ucts Company and for Theo. D. Em p;e. The order carries with it the cross' ng of a number of streets sub ject to approval toy the Wilmington aldermen. Representations to the Commissioners are that there is no opposition ' to the proposed sidings, the procurments of the orders being in compliance with statutory require ments There was a charter issued today lor the Arapahoe-Bairch Creek Tram way Co.. Pamlico county, capital $15, inio authorized and $4,000 subscribed by H . A . Reel and others. There was filed today the dissolu tion certificates for the Auditorium Amusement Co., of Charlotte, of which jl. u. Hunter, H. P. Hunter "and ether were the incorporators. ' An early morning fire today de stroyed the news stand of M. Fromme on Martin etreet near the union pas senger station. The damage was $1, nuo with $850 insurance. The Ori gin of the fire is not known. Early Sunday morning a Are was discovered in the boiler room of the gas plant of the Carolina Power and Lisht Co. A tar barrel had caught in .-onie way. The flames spread to the roof of the boiler roonvvand threat ened to develop into serious propor tions before it was gtten under cn trol. The . estimated damage was atout $1,230. . ' Last night someone . stole a horse aud buggy from R. P.' Harton, who lives oil Hillsboro road Just beyond the State fair grounds. The thief went into the stable yard, hitched up the horse and drove toward the city. Every effort is being put forth tc catch the thief and recover the turnout. It is' a black mare and the vehicle a rubber-tired buggy. The members are anticipating a fine outing on the occasion of the trip to the Sound. x . v . "THE PASSION - ' PLAY." Will be Presented at Academy Under Auspices of Elks. There ' was a special meeting last night of Wilmington Lodge, B. P. O. Elks, for the purpose of making final arrangements for the presentation of "The Passion Ptay" at the Academy of Music Thursday, Friday and Satur day, under the auspices of the lodge, for the benefit of the Elks' Christmas chairty fund. The Elks only get a percentage on the tickets sold by the Elks, and not on the tickets sold' at Plummer's and at the box office. Friends of the lodge are asked to remember this when purchasing their tickets. These-tickets must be pur chased before Thursday, or it will not benefit the Elks; . Arrested for Retailing. Robert" London, colored, of Topsail Sound, Pender county, was arrested and brougnt to this city yesterday af ternoon by United States Deputy Mar shal C. O. Knox, on a warrant charging him with retailing liquor without Un5t- ed States revenue license, in violation of the law. NEGRO SHOOTS ANOTHER Ephraim White Seriously Wounded by Pistol Shot v Ephraim White, colored, was shot and seriously wounded yesterday morning about 11 o'clock.
