' The market was steady, but several points off from the hest. with prices net 4 points higher to ;; points lower, near months being relative ly firm. : - -. ... - " Keports of heavy rains -in the Southwest mid bullish - Liverpool cables . caused an opening advance, of from 5 to S points, but the market met heavy realizing from the start and prices soon eased off. Bristol, R. i.j Oct. 23.-r-The old cup defender Columbia; probably will be requisitioned for. the .-third time as a trial .boat for , the. America's cup de fender, br defenders next year and there is a possibility that Rear Com modore J. P. Morgan may be at her wheel. The i syndicate that will build the boat now being designed here to meet the fourth Lipton invasion in convinc ed of the necessity of a competitor in the trial raceseven though such a boat should be. considerably larger than the 1914 defender. Mr. Morgan inherited the Columbia from his father, who. headed the .syn- llcate that built her. The elder Mor gan turned the Columbia over as a trial boat for the Constitution in 1901 and so ably was she managed that the cup ' committee was forced to reject the Constitution in favor of the older boat. . The Columbia is in: excellent condi tion and can be placed in commission with comparatively' little' expense. World's "baseball ' series at Grand Theatre today. . (advertisement.)
