Nine- Wn-year-old Walter Sawyer, who was shot on June 12th by a nme-year-uiu lad of the same community, is now able to walk about and is in posses sion of all his faculties in spite of the fact that he carries with him a bullet lodged in the back of his head. The shooting occurred at an unoccu pied house near Harbinger postofflce. Sawyer and his brother were passing this house and saw two small boys trying to gain an entrance They stopped to. see rhat they meant to do and the boys said that there was some one in the house and they wanted to be helped in to see what was going on.' Having gained an entrance, one of the boys, Leonard Swain, picked up .a pis tol which he found lying in one of the rooms and snapped it a number of tins in the face of Sawyer's brother. "Look out. You'll shoot somebody." called Walter, and at this, Swain turn ed and pulled the trigger again. This time it fired and Walter Sawyer drop ped to the floor. Dr. W. T. Griggs, hastily summoned, was on the scene - immediately and it is believed that his prompt medical at tention has saved the young man's life It was thought at the time that Saw yer's chance for recovery was scarcely one of a thousand and his . complete recovery will 'be considered by those who knew of the affair first hand as little short of miraculous.
