The first championship match of the
season will be pulled off in Woolvin
Hall tonight at 8 o'clock, between
Fritz Hanson, the manager of the local
athletic club, with headquarters at
the Woolvin Hall, and . Paul Vallis,
whom he beat in a match a few weeks
ago. Hanson is off several pounds since
the last match, and Vallis has gained
three pounds, and the fans think it
will be the closest match yet staged on
the local mat.
Hanson's reputation and ability is
already known to all fans in the city,
both from what he has done here, de
feating every man who has met him,
and his past reputation as welter
weight champion of the world. He
had been wrestling at about 150
pounds when he defeated the several
men who have come up against him in
the past few weeks, and Vallis only
weighed 141 when he last met Han
son. This-" being a championship
match, it is necessary that both men
weigh 145 or less. When weighed yes
terday, they both made 144 pounds,
Mr. D. C. North weighing Hanson at
the Y. M. C. A.
Vallis says he has thrown every man
he met except Hanson, who was above
his weight, since six weeks ago when
he was adjudged the best man of his
weight at the elimination tournament
at New York. He Is a strong, well
built man, and from all appearances
will "likely give - Hanson the toughest
wrestle he has had this season. . .
The- scales are at Warren' cigar store
