Night", and every, ladv attending will be presented with full ticket, good for admission to th Royal Theatre Friday, afternoon or nrht. Thursday night will be another special attraction, "The Chorus Girl Contest," and Friday night the Coun try Store, even bigger than last week, vith a erreat array of articles. Saturday afternoon,, a rare treat is Hing prepared for. the kiddies, which will be announced later. "Inspiration "at the Grand. And did "Inspiration" make a hit at the Grand yesterday? Did it: Why the ones who were disappointed because they couldn't get a seat last night alone, will make a pretty good begin ning towards today's crowds. Evident ly many Wilmingtonians took our tip to get in while they could yesterday, for today's crowds will ,be larger than even last night's rush. "Inspiration" will leave Wilmington " ith many, left behind who, wanted to see it bul couldn't. It has been so 'verj where. Just one tremendous suc cess after another in every town where it has been shown. But there can be no return date for at least three month;-, as it is bookecr solid that far hi -advance now.. "Inspiration" is the spectacular, dar romance of an art model, starring !,'! ae !fading role Audrey Munson, The American Venus" the world's n'ost famous art model. And Miss Munson i.s the whole, show, too. It is 'he one big artistic triumph of picture lom's past year of activities, and has been the sensation of the entire film "orld. "Inspiration" is in five big ree-is, and every reel is packed full of sensational, striking and' original scenes, acting and surroundings. "Inspiration" is booked for today a,t the Grand, and the crowds who attend today will have the ; pleasure of wit nessing -absolutely the greatest photo play of the year. Those who fail to see it will, miss the ne big treat of the season! "The Broken Coin" Today. The next to the, final chapter of the great serial, "The Broken Coin"! Gee, but won't the folks all flock to the Bi jou today. Talk about action, but the equal of these two reeis of motion pic tures has never been seen anywhere. There's enough stuff to be told .and done in the concluding four reels of this great picture to mase "a half doz en ordinary feature photoplays, and it has all got to be jammed and rammed into four reels. That guarantees some thing doing every minute - of the half hour it will be on the screen todav. The next chapter the final and con clusionis entitled "An Anierican Queen," and, of course, you want to see how that comes &,tout. Tfou could probably furnish a pretty good guess as to who the American Queen will be, but still you want to see how she does it. So come early today. Harry Myers and Rosemary Theby have been seen lately only in comedy roles. But you haven't forgotten those strong dramatic roles tliey used to play. And today in "In the Night," a great three-reel Victor thriller, you will see spme of the strongest dramatic acting by this pair that you ever wit nessed on the screen. There are threa whole reels of it, and it all happens in one? night. .Her admirers have learned to look for . elaborate costuming when Rosemary Thoby is the bill, and they will not be disappointed in this picture. There is as much dramatic ac tion in. thisj three-reeler as has often been found in a five-reel feature, and the climax is one of the greatest you ever saw. Robert Jttantell at Royal. 'Robert Mantell, -ion an eminent Shakespearean actor, makes his first screen appearance at the Royal today in. the leading roles of th,e "William Fox Photoplay Supreme, "The Blind ness of Devotion." playing opposite that beautiful Fox' star, . Genevfeve Hamper, with . a great Fox cast in cluding Stuart Holmes, Claire Whit ney and Jack Standing. In the multitude of pictures of these days it is a rare thing to find one in which the union of story and acting is complete upon a high plane of ex cellencet but this is wnat has happened in "The Blindness of Devotion." The story, of course, dealing with, the as pect of life which it covers, is hot new, but it is good. It is told with merci less regard for its rights and privi leges as a story, and with no thought at all of forcing a happy ending. In brief, it has' to do with the devotion of an elderly man to the son of his dead friend; the son's betrayal of this devo tion by an affair with his benefactor's young wife (Genevieve Hamper); the subsequent discovery bringing with it the young-man's suicide, and the poi soning of the unfaithful wife by the outraged husband. " Such a sketch of the plot does not do justice to the strength and depth of the play as a whole; It gains and keeps the interest because it is de veloped logically and because the players chosen to present it are con vincing. To those who associate Rob ert Mantell only with nigh tragedy of the old school, the picture will be a revelation. PROF. WOODBR1DGE LECTURKS ON NATIONAL SELF-CONSCIOUSNESS WATCH SORE THROATS because swollen glands -or inflamed membranes often affect other tissues and lung trouble easily follows. As Nature's corrector ; of . throat troubles the pure cod liver oil in Scott's Emulsion is speedily converted into germ-resisting tissue; its tested glycer ine is curative and healing, while this wholesome emulsion relieves the trouble and upbuilds the forces to resist tubercular germs and avert the weak ening influence which usually follows. If any member of your family has a tender throat, get a bottle of Scott's Emulsion to-day. Physicians prescribe Phycicians the world over recommend it to avert throat troubles, overcome the inside bath, claiming this is of hronrhial disorders and Strengthen the lungs. No alcohol or harmful drugs. Always insist on Scott's. An Inside Bath Makes You Look and Feel Fresh Says a glass of hot water with phosphate before breakfast keeps Illness away. t This excellent, common-sense health measure being adopted by millions. Columbia University Professor Heard at Chapel Hill. ROBERT MANTELL The Eminent Shakespearean Star, Ap pearing: with Genevieve Hamper and Stuart Holmes, in "The Blindness-of Devotion,' Royal Today. (Special Star Correspondence.) Chapel Hill, N. C, March 6. "Na tional Self-Consciousness" was the sub ject of a most Interesting address by Prof. F. J. E. Woodbridge, of Colum bia University; at the 12:3.0 hour today. Classes were suspended to permit at tendance on the lecture. Gerrard Hall was packed with students, members of the faculty, and townspeople; for it is not often that the University . commun ity hears McNair lecturers speak on current topics, and, especially, in an informal manner. "Of all subjects philosophy is by far the- most important," declared Profes sor Woodbridge. "It is important to know what a nation's philosophy is if that nation is to engage in interna tional relations." Likewise it is neces sary to know the philosophy of an in dividual; for, said the speaker, "it is chiefly philosophy which divides men from one another. More often it dif ferentiates people so that they cannot understand one another:" Continuing, Professor Woodbridge said that what divides Europe today is not so much a peculiarity of stock as it is a peculiarity of languagesycus- toms, philosophy. "Italy's part In trie present contest is a natural outcome of her state of mind. She cannot tell what she is; she has not yet mads up her mind." The French, however, have pretty much the same views as to what France is. It stands for clarity, so ciability, and sympathy. Germany was then cited as a striking illustration of the expression of a national philoso phy. "Germany believe s that her greatest contribution to civilization is herself. Freedom has a German mean ing that is, to them perfect freedom is perfect obedience to perfect law. Germans pride themselves less in the things they do and more in the way they do it. The war in Europe today is probably due to the fact that Ger many felt that the kind of state she felt herself to be was imperiled." Turning then to America, the speak er asserted that this is a country not only with no self-consciousness, but is filled with groups scattered all over the country, each with a self-consciousness of its own. "It is the im portant duty of educators to try to develop some kind' of national self-consciousness." vastly more importance than outside cleanliness, because the skin pores do not absorb impurities into the blood, causing ill health,- while the, pores in the ten yards of bowels do. Men and women are urged to drink each morning, before breakfast, a glass of hot water with a teaspoonful of limestone "phosphate in it, as a harmless means of helping tcf wash from the sto mach, liver, kidneys and bowels the previous day's indigestible material, poisons, sour bile and toxins; thus cleansing, sweetening and purifying the entire alimentary canal before putting more food into the stomach Just as soap and hot water cleanse and freshen the skin, so hot Avater and limestone phosphate act on the elimin ative organs. Those who wake up with bad breath, pooated tongue, nasty taste or have a dull, aching head, sallow complexion, acid stomach; others who are subject to bilious attacks or constipation, should obtain a quarter pound of lime stone phosphate at the drug store. This will cost very little, but is sufficient to demonstrate the value of inside bath ing. Those who continue it each morn ing are assured of pronounced results, both in regard to health and appearance. Scott & Bowne, Bloomfield, N.
