(Reu ters.) Popular indignation over the general conduct of the war, "especially the brutality, arrogance and incompe tence" displayed by the highest Aus trian military commanders, found ex pression in a resolution adopted by the German Austrian national assem bly today determining the appointment of a commission to investigate the cause of Austria-Hungary's military collapse. In the course of a vigorous debate on the grave charges advanced against - high officers, it was declared that members' of the imperial family, re gardless of age or military, capacity, had been given commands with the most disastrous results. A field marshal who commanded an expedition against Serbia wus denounced as responsibble for the death of thousands whom he drove to slaughter, insufficie..tly muni tioned, fed and clothed, some of the deputies declared that he ought to be hanged. The most intense hatred against the entire body of officers is developing among civilians. These officers are iccused publicly of wholesale thefts during the war, of living luxuriously and permitting their wives to wear costly jewelry, while the masses starv-i ?d.- The Vienna newspapers urged the Investigating committee to begin work before lhe commanders implicated are ' able to destroy the documentary proof , f their guilt. Norfolk, Va., Dec. 21. The coast , puard cutter Seminole which has been itanding by the stranded Greek steam rjrEllin, off Currituck inlet, was re lieved today by the wrecking ; tug.
