It will be the most eventful day of the year for the region. First "breaks of a bumper crop of the best 4 quality "weed" grown anywhere in the world will be auctioned off. on scores of warehouse floors in dozens of mar kets. Indications are that several mil lion dollars will change hands the very first day, though opening day sales are usually regarded as "test" sales and the breaks do not approach the bulk of those of the midseason period.- The number of planters selling tomorrow will be large; thousands of growers at tend the initial sales p o "see how things are going." Rough estimates place the value of the crop in this small 'belt at a sum much in excess of the value of the en tire Kentucky crop. One hundred mil lions, one hundred and fifty millions to such heights soar the off-hand yal- nations placed upon the . crop by ware housemen. It would not surprise some if the season's total goes to $175,000, 000. - This wealth, will be distributed between the "ttfg-.f our'.' markets, Wil ori Kinston, .'Greenville, and Rocky Mount, and doens of lesser marts, in cluding Warsaw, "Wallace, Ooldsboro, ,aOrange, Richlands, Sntrw Hill, "Wash ington, New Bern, Farmvllle and others. Predictions generally favor prices Bqual to last year's, which were record breaking. Eastern Carolina produces a superior tobacco and the world de mands it. Markets' may break in other 'belts, but those in this belt . are not affected. Cigarette manufacturers in America and abroad are glad ' to get the local product and to pay well in order to get it. Connecticut, Kentucky, western and central North .Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Pennsylvania, some of the Central and Great Lakes states, most of the Latin-American countries, China, the East Indies and a few other countries pr.oduce Ral eigh's seductive weed, but none can claim a product' of such richness of color, flavor and texture as -that grown at Newport, Pink Hill, along the Neuse and Tar rivers and elsewhere in this region.. . Public Seliool. Opened The public schools here opened to day with every classroom crowded and grades holding forth in the basements. ! The increase In 'Enrollment '-.was con siderable. The number, of teachers was Increased. Because of the housing shortage some of the non-resident in structresses were provided with quar ter with difficulty. The congestion . In the buildings, which was serious last year, was aggravated by the numbers of new pupils. The school authorities expect conditions to be Improved by next fall. They will submit their pro posal for a $900,000 bond issue to the voters in a few weeks, and expect the .women voters to put the issue through. This will provide new schools, a teach ers' dormitory, r- May Placard Prlee. Film clings to teeth, enters crevices and stayk ' , The ordinary tooth paste does not end film. So the film remains much of it and may do a cease less damage. Nearly all people suffer f rom itj more or less. '. ' y It is the film-coat that discolors, hot : the teeth. Film is the basis of tartar. It holds food substance which ferments and forms acid. It holds the acid in contact with the teeth to cause decay. ; Millions pi germs breed in it They, with tartar,, arethe chief cause of pyorrhea. ' So, despite the tooth brush, all these troubles have been constantly ' increasing.; . " - ; - : " New methods now . Dental science, after years of searching, ' has found new ways to fight film.
