I SmSATISFACTiON! OVER ROAD CONDITIONS Coiumbus County People Want Legislation That Will Give Them Relief ; (Sipeclal to The Star) ; ; -a CLARENDON, Jan. 18. Very great dissatisfaction prevails In the county over the present system of keeping up nnhiin roads. Up to the 1919 ses sion of the legislature, the roads were worked by free labor of all able-boQled men. between the ages of 21 and 45. At this session free labor was discon tinued, and since that time the high ways have been worked by taxation, v It is said that $120,000 has been spent during the past 12 months, and. many of the roads are almost i impasable. Some sections of the county has had jittle, or no work done on the roads.tn two years. The public is anxiously oanitinr on Renresentative J. R. Wil liamson, to 'come to the rescue ! with some highway legislation that will im prove the condition of the .roads. ' The old system, of working free labor-had its imperfections, but the ; roads were in far better condition -thaniurtder the present regime. 7: ;-.'!- : ; . -i ' ' Mrs. Sallie-Jane Wright,, aged T 87 years, passed away at the home of her ion, Maloy Wright, on Tabor Rt, 1, Sunday nisht.
