i, ,1 :; THE MORNING STAR, TOLMINGTON, d THURSDAY FEBRUARY 3192: " EIGHT i :P PI n 4 J 1 .!: J t A' ! V POOR WOMAN SENDS A ilMITE' FOR CHILDREN ife of Tenant Farmer Gives Europeans ABERDEEN. Feb. 2. The liberality of the poor woman who wrote the fol lowing letter should put to shame thousands of men and women in North Carolina, vastly more able to give than she, but who have not contributed a single penny to save the lives of starv ing children across the sea: "Fuquay Springs, N. C, Jan. 21, 1921. Mr. Henry A. Page, chairma Aber deen. X. C. My dear sir; I am enclos ing check for $10 for. the child feeding fund. I feel that this is all we can give and do justice at home. We are only tenant farmers and I am the mother of nine children. There is not a vacant chair, in our home, and my husband is much afflicted. May God"s blessings be with this mite that it may nave the life of some child and bring happiness to some mother's heart. Tours very truly, Mrs. N. F. O ." The $10 pent bv this good mother will save the life "of a starving child. She could ill-afford to make this con tribution. The needs of her large fam ily really demand all the money avail able; yet she managed in some way to send 'enough to insure the precious child of some distressed mother in Eu rope. - There are indeed few neople in ortn Carolina who are not more able to con tribute than this generous woman; yet thousands upon thousands have failed to heed the desperate cry of these mil lions of children who are pleading for life. Think of how many child lives have been saved with the money you have unnecessarily spent during the past three months for solf-indulgence. The samo number of children can be saved with what you will pend for the same puroose during the next three months. If this good woman, with nine children and an invalid husband on her hands, and with little of this world's goods, can save the life of a child, cer tainly vod. who do not have to worry about the necessities of life, can afford to forego your luxuries and self-indulgences for a short time in order that precious children may be saved. Children re dying in Europe for lack of bread. Won't you help to save them? Ten dollars will provide for one child until the pcxt harvest. Mail your check today , to Henry A. Page, chair man.
