The federal boat line, operating between this citv and Baltimore, will be extended in the near future, as a direct result of the discontinuance of the New York-Buffalo section by sale to a private con cern, and, further, the large amount of lumber and oth-er materials shipped from here to Philadelphia. C, . an nounced the complement of equipment totalling six steamers and 18 barges, 25 per cent of the New York state equipment, to be placed oh the North Carolina line. Freight from the north between October 15 and January 31 -amQirnted to- 2,220.958 pounds, while shipments out of New Bern totalled 646,705. Shipments north from here are picking up daily and with the better service to be rendered soon, a large business is anticipated.
