The South Carolina general assembly meet ing in joint session today failed in three ballots to elect an associate jus tice of the supreme court to succeed the late Justice George W. Gage, and three more ballots will be taken tomorrow. Six circuit judges are in the field of ten candidates. The other four candidates are leading, however, in the following order: J. K. Carter, of Bamberg; M. L. Bonham, of Anderson; E. Marion Rucker, of the law faculty of the Uni versity of South Carolina, and State Senator J. H. Marion, of Chester. Renews Strength !
