Kuentz. in charge of the local district. Major Kuentz stated yesterday that he would shortly announce a date upon which bids would be received for the Cape Feat-. The Cape Fear, although 28 years old, having been built especially for local work in 1895. is yet In fine ijpndition. and fio doubt will be purchased and converted Into an ocean-going fishing steamer, or an ocean-going tug. Built in Philadelphia, 28 years ago, the Cape Fear is yet found in all de partments. and is good for several years more of useful service.. The craft’s hull is pf wood, and she is equipped with powerful propelling en gines. Since the Comstock was purchased for dredging work on the Cape Fear river bar. the Cape Fear nas been laid up at the local government yard. The Cape Fear was no inconsider able factor in the dredging and main taining of the channel of the river from Wilming-ton to the sea. from less than 20 feet to the maximum depth of 26 feet at low water that Is available at present. Enough copies of the publication for all the senators and representa tives were sent here by Secretary Ivouis T. Moore, of Wilmington Cham ber of Commerce and Representative Wade saw that a copy was placed on each member's desk. Arson Case Opens in Forsyth County Court WINSTON-SALEM, Jan. 10.—The greater part of the session of superior court here today was devoted to efforts to select a jury in the case of C. M. Sawyer and Willie Chatman, charged with arson in connection witli the burning in August, 1922, of a large business structure here. Chatman was arrested a few minutes after the fire and, according to the po lice, made a confession, claiming that he acted as an agent for Sawyer. Chat man has been in jail, several months awaiting trial. Sawyer has been out under bond of $20,000. About 30 venire men were examined today but the list of jurors had not been complete when court adjourned late this afternoon. Both Chatman and Sawyer have en tered pleas of not guilty. ACME-DELCO HIGH SCHOOL NEWS ACME. Jan. 10.—The holidays were I very happily spent by all the teachers and pupils, though we are all glad to be back at work again. Professor Johnson was sick with in fluenza last week, but is able to be at school this week. Miss Pencie Blizzard was a visitor in 1 our school today. Our class rooms have been made . more comfortable since heaters have been installed, new desks have also been an addition. There will be pictures in the school auditorium Friday evening.
