Ten Per Cent Increase In
Membership Of Each Club
Listed As One Objective
GOLDSBORO, Dec. 12.—A four
point program of advancement for
the division was adopted at the offi
cers school of the 7th division of
the Carolinas Kiwanis district held
Tuesday evening in Goldsboro, with
Lieutenant Governor T. Frank Jones
of Goldsboro presiding.
The objectives are; Organization
of one or more new clubs in the di
vision during 1941; 10 per cent In
crease in membership of each local
club; building up attendance of en
tire division; club competition in
publicity.
Each of the six clubs in the di
vision was represented by one or
more of its local officials and a full
afternoon was spent in studying the
program of Kiwanis International for
the district and the 7th division for
1941.
Assisting Lieutenant Governor
Jones in the instructional session
were Past Lieutenant Governor W.
J. Bundy of Greenville. Fred E. Lit
tle of Wilmington, and the Rev. R.
E. McClure of New Bern, members of
the faculty.

Driving Courses Here
Fifty-seven persons successfully
completed the courses offered by
the WPA safe driving schools in
Wilmingon during the period from
September 1 to December 1, the
state WPA office in Raleigh an
nounced yesterday.
The graduates, whose ages aver
age 25,, drove 738 miles, used 81
gallons of gasoline, or nine miles
per gallon, during the safe driv
ing instruction here.
Sponsors of the school include:
the adult education division of the
Works Projects administration, the
state highway safety division, of
which Ronald Hocutt is the direc
tor. and the City of Wilmington. 4

taxable note issue — and asked for
more. He was referring to a new is
sue of five-year national defense
notes hearing 3-4 of 1 per cent inter
est. Although subscription books for
the issue closed last mid-night, ac
curate figures on the total subscrip
tions were unavailable late today.
