Turner-Tremain Wedding Is Held At St. Andrew’s Ceremony Solemnized Thurs day Noon, April 30 By Rev. Storey A wedding of simplicity and dig njty was solemnized in the Me morial Hall of St. Andrew’s Pres bvterian church. Thursday April •jO at 12 o'clock, noon, when Mrs. Mary King Tremain and Bertice James Turner of Teachey, were united in marriage. pr. Charlton H. Storey, pastor of the church, performed the cere mony before a background of palms, seven branched candelabra and baskets of white syringa. ' Prior to the service Mrs. Eustis Norfleet presented a program of nuptial music. Mrs. Turner wore a two-tone blue ensemble with navy acces sories. and a shoulder corsage of white gardenias and swansonia. Immediately after the ceremony the couple left by motor for Wash ington, Philadelphia and New York. 2 * * # Cape Fear Chapter, UDC, Plans Memorial Service The United Daughters of the Con federacy are making plans for the Confederate Memorial Day service which will be hdld at 4 o’clock p. rn.. May 10. at the Confederate Mound in Oakdale cemetery. Rev. hanky Lee Blanton will make the address and Rev. James Lawson will offer the prayer. A complete program for the serv ice will be announced later. The members of Cape Fear chap ter, United Daughters of the Con federacy. are requested to meet at the lodge in Oakdale cemetery Fri day. Junior Woman’s Club Will Meet Monday Night The final meeting of the year will be held Monday evening at 8 o'clock by North Carolina Jun ior Sorosis, local junior woman’s club. Miss Miriam Miller has left for Camp Clairbourne. La., where her wedding to Capi. Samuel E. War shauer, Medical Corps, U. S. Army, will take place Monday, May 4, at the Hotel Bentley, at Alexandria, La. Miss Miller was accompanied by her sister, Miss Lucile Miller. Her father, I. Miller will leave Sun day to join them. * * * Nutrition Teachers Needed In Wilmington Nutrition teachers are badly needed in Wilmington for instruc tors in the American Red Cross nu trition classes now being formed in the city. Classes are increasing in membership daily and the need for more instructors in this work is urgent. All interested nutrition teachers who have B. S. degrees and who have been active in the past two years are urged to call Mrs. P. R. Smith at telephone 21557. High School Children Plan Concert Today A combined group of the four Junior High School band members will present a concert in the New Hanover High school auditorium this afternoon. This group will be under the direction of Miss Theo Sowell who is in charge of the entire Junior High school instru mental music program. Not only will music be rendered but you will be afforded the opportunity of seeing the baton twirlers strut. These students were select ed for cooperation, attitude and skill on the instrument that he or she played. There will be no admission charge but a silver offering will be taken for the Navy Relief Fund. * * * Club Clock The South Wilmington Home' Demonstration club will meet in the home of IVfrs. D. E. Jones, Jr., Carolina Beach road Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock. Each member is urged to attend and bring a flower arrangement for the lo cal club Flower Show to be held at this meeting. This is the only Flower Show this year and each member is expected to participate. The monthly meeting of the Business and Professional Womans club will be held at the Friendly cafeteria Monday May 4. Supper will be served in the upstairs dining room at 6 o’clock. Martha Washington Council, No. 8, Daughters of America, Seagate, will give a shower Tuesday evening at 8:30 o’clock in the Junior Order hall. The shower is for the benefit of the Junior Orphanage.
