Miss Miller’s selec tions included “Largo,” “Elegie” j-V Massenet. ’Traumerei,” and -elections by Edward MacDowed. '■j0 a Wild Rose” was used dur ing the ceremony and the tradi tonal wedding marches were used. The bride and bridegroom en ■ered the church unattended. The bride was lovely in white mar quisette ol street length, long sleeves and high neckline, finger tip veil, with Juliet cap with seed pearls. She carried a shower bou ouet of sweetheart roses and lilies of the valley. For travelling the bride wore a beige linen suit with accessories of brown. She wore a corsage of sweetheart roses. Mr. Miller is the son of Bettie Peden Miller and the late Rev. William Wanet Miller; his mater nal grandfather being William Peden of Sampson and P e nder counties and paternal grandfather being C. B Miller, a merchant for years in Wilmington, who came to Pender county at the close of the Civil war. Mrs. Miller is the daughler of • Don" Saunders and Minnie Hall Saunders; her paternal grand father being the late Dr. Saunders of the Six Forks section of Pen der county, and her maternal grandfather being the late “Bob” Hail also of the Six Forks section. I After .Tune 7, the couple will be at home at Carolina Beach to their friends for the summer. 4 MARRIED _ Mrs. William Brown McNeill who before her marriage May 9, was Miss Edna Waddell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Waddell of Burgaw. Mr. McNeill is the son of Mrs. N. A. McNeill of Maxton and the late Mr. Mc Neill. Helen Rosenman Receives Honor At the close of each school year at Hemenway school, the M. C. S. Noble Scholarship cup is awarded to the eighth grade boy or gi r 1 who has maintained the highest scholastic record for the year. The cup, this year, was award ed to Helen Rosenman, daugnter of Mr. and Mrs. William Roser. man. 14 South Fifth street. Her grades averaged A for the year. Helen also took active part in bas ketball, the school paper, glee club and traffic. Dr. Noble, in whose honor the cup was given, is known as Nprth Carolina’s “grand old man of edu cation.” 4 Elizabeth Marye Presented Cup Elizabeth Marye, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Marye of 1802 Chestnut street, was presented the John J. Blair Scholarship cup in a closing chapel program held at Isaac Bear school. The cup was given to the school in 1931 by the faculty and th e P-T.A. in memory of Mr. Blair, former superintendent of New Hanover county schools, following a suggestion made by Miss Julia Hill, then principal of the school It was through Mr. Blair's efforts that the present auditorium wa s built and other improvements made. In a special program Miss Hill presented the cup to M r s. Roudabush, president of the Par ent-Teacher ■ association, who in turn presented it to the school Each year the eighth grader having the highest scholastic aver age for the year becomes the possessor of the cup for one year and has his name engraved upon it. The winners for the preceding four years have been Robert Tay lor, Mary Elizabeth Toms, Jovce West, and Bill Lassiter. 4 • * « Calvary Baptist Circles Will Meet The circles of Calvary Baptist church will meet as follows: 1— Tuesday afternoon at 3^30 o’clock at the church. 2— Tuesday evening at 8 o’clock at the church. 3— The Business Woman’s Circle will meet Monday evening at 8 o’clock at the home of Mrs. L. Scout Leaders Conduct Final Meet at Beach The final meeting of the Girl Scout leaders association was held Friday at Wrightsville Beach with Mrs. B. W. Page presiding. Following luncheon plans were made for a meeting to be held during July at the camp. Mrs. W. S. Pullen gave a talk on, All Summer Scouting. During the afternoon Mrs. Page was present ed a miscellaneous shower and Mrs. Earl I. Stegman, Scout worker, was presented a gift in appreciation for her services.
