Motor vehicle accidents claimed the largest number of lives for that year, taking a toll of 1.014. Falling and crushing accidents claimed 274 lives, while burns ranked third in the fatality list with a toll of 172. Drow-.nings claimed 122. firearm accidents 92, railway accidents 79 and agricultural and forestry ac cidents 60.
