Miss Finkelstein Will Wed Tuesday In Baltimore, Md. Of interest to friends here will be the plans for the wedding of Miss Pauline Finkelstein, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Finkelstein, to S. Harold Scher of New Bern and Newark. N. J. The wedding will be solemnized at the Lord Baltimore hotel in Bal timore on Tuesday afternoon, April 6, at 3 o’clock. Miss Finkelstein will be attended by her sister, Miss Shirley Finkel stein of Wilmington, as maid-of honor. Mr. Scher will have as his best man, Meyer Scher of Philadel phia. No invitations have been issued. The following friends of the bride-elect have entertained at par ties in her honor prior to her de parture for Baltimore: Miss Helen Lowenstein with a crystal shower; Miss Shirley Finkelstein with a din ner party; Mrs. B. Brown announce the marriage of their daughter, Miss Catherine Blake to James Donnelly, Friday, April 2. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. J. O. Walton. The bride wore a smart tailored suit of light blue, with navy ac cessories. Her corsage was pink roses. Mrs. Donnelly is the daughter of Mrs. John W. Brown, this city. Her father was the late J. W. Blake. She attended local schools and Woman’s college of the Univer sity of North Carolina. She lias been employed in this city for the past several years. Mr. Donnelly is the son of the late James and Mary Donnelly, this city, and is a well-known con tractor of southeastern North Caro lina. He is the owner of the Don nelly Construction company. The meeting was opened with the club Collect, led by Mrs. An drew Howwell, Chaplain, follow ed by the pledge to the flag. Splendid reports were given by department officers and standing committees. Recommendations of the executive board were read and accepted. The annual banquet will De held on May 13. at 7 o’cloch. Following the resignation of Mrs. Sidney Jones. Mrs. John J. Fowler was elected second vice-president for the year. Mrs. W. A. Fonvielle. chairman of the Legislative Comrr.i'tee, re ported that at the last Lcg’slature six of the nine points sponsored by the State Federation were ob tained. Appropriation of funds for cancer clinics for indigent patients, continued efforts to raise the com pulsory age and to place enforce ment under the Department of Education, and a moderniz’d jail system are three points that will be presented to the Federation in High Point this month for its con tinued endorsement. The club voted to help the Red Cross to recruit students for nurses and also to sponsor a a irse. Mrs. J. T. Rodney were united in marriage Wednesday evening, March 24 in Marion, South Caro lina. The Rev. Allen, pastor of Ihe First Baptist church, officiated. The bride wore an aqua suit with luggage accessories. Mrs. Rodney is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. S. L. Hamilton of Burgaw. She received her educa tion at Burgaw High school and Wilmington Beauty school. For the past three years she has been employed at the Friendly Beauty shop in Burgaw. Cadet Rodney is the son of Mr. ana Mrs. A. C. Rodney of 35 North Bromley avenue, Scranton, Pennsylvania. He was educated at East Stroudsburg college in Stroudsburg, Pa. Before entering the Air Corps, he taught in the Burgaw High school. The couple left Thursday for Srranton, Pennsylvania, and Grand Rapids.
