Fighter Group Makes 200 Sorties In Day CAIRO, April 9.—(A*)—In a blis tering attack that lasted from dawn to dusk, Dianes of a single fighter group of the ninth United States air force made nearly 200 sorties yesterday. The fliers poured their fire into everything on the move through the forward area of the Tunisian battlefront, strafing enemy trans port, personnel and tanks. It was announced today that they definiely destroyed one tank and damaged to others, destroyed 12 heavy enemy vehicles and dam aged seven others and inflicted high casualties on the enemy re treating along the roads toward the port of Sfax. Williamson, is spending a few days with his parents at their home in Winter Park. Dr. Williamson has re ceived his commission as lieuten ant, junior grade, in the Navy Medical Corps and will be sta tioned at Parris Island in the near future. Dr. Williamson was graduated from New Hanover High school and the University of North Caro lina, where he received a B. S. degree. He attended the first two years of Medical school at the University of North Carolina and then transferred to the University of Maryland, Baltimore, where he received his medical degree March 25. COMMISSIONED William Bates Morris, of 107 Wrightsville avenue, has been commissioned a second lieutenant in the Army of the United States at the Field Artillery Officer Can didate school, Fort Sill, Okla. Lieutenant Morris has been as signed to duty at Fort Bragg. ATTENDING SCHOOL PFC Eugene N. Blake, son of Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Blake of 109 North Eighth street, is now at tending the American Air Forces Tactical Training Command Cler ical School at the Oklahoma A. and M. State college, Stillwater, Okla. Private Blake was inducted into the Army at Fort Bragg on February 11. He received his basic training at St. Petersburg, Fla. SERVING OVERSEAS James Floyd Yopp, seaman, first class, is now serving over seas with the United States Navy. He recently visited his wife, the former Miss Mamie Jane Watson, and parents here.
