H. Shoe maker, chairman of the joint mer ger committe of the churches an nounced yesterday. The action will be in keeping with the committee’s reccftnmen dations approved recently by the churches’ joint sessions. The merger proposal was made public several weeks ago and the committe of three members from each church was appointed by the joint sessions to further develop the possibilities of the union. This group reported to the individual sessions and to the joint sessions and was instructed to make ar rangements for the membership of the churches to formally vote on the merger. At the close of services at each on April 30, informal meetings were held at which the officers explained the proposed union as suggested and answered several questions dealing with it. Under the terms of the commit tee’s recommendations to the two congregations calling for the mer ger, the assets of both churches, both real and personal, would be combined to form the assets of the merged church and the liabilities of both churches would be assum ed by the merged chudbh. Among other recommendations are: That the official bodies of both churches, the sessions, the deaconatee an<j the trustees, be combined to form the official bod ies of the merged church. "Since the committe is inform ed both the present pastors have indicated their willingness and in tention of resigning, in order that they may facilitate the merger, it is suggested that the resignations now be tendered and become -ef fective May 31, 1944, if the merger of the two congregations is ap proved by the congregations.’’ St. Andrew’s church is located at 514 N.
