There was heavy switching into later months while the activity in the July contract consisted of cov ering operations in anticipation of first notice day next June 27. NEW YORK, June 13.—W—Ris ing optimism over prospects for early termination of the war in Europe expressed itself today in another buying splurge in the stock exchange. Advances were broadly distribut ed and ran from fractions to more than 2 points. A fair number of in dustrial stocks reached the highest levels since late 1938, or before the start of the war. For the second time this year volume exceeded 2, 300,000 shares. At the close some prices were a little under the day’s highs but gen erally the final quotations were lear the' best.
