CLASSIFIED DISPLAY SELECTED RAILS REGISTER CAINS By VICTOR EUBANK NEW YORK, April 7.—(A>)—Ris ing tendencies for selected rails, utilities and industrials persisted in today’s stock market and favor ites finished a generally good week with gains of fractions to a point. As in recent sessions, invest ment demand, while not partic ularly urgent, was based partly on the growing belief that victory in Europe and the far Pacific had been pretty well discounted mar ketwise and peacetime prosperity would more than offset business transition problems. Dividends, earnings and splitup talk again spurred individual fav orites. The war news, especially the smash' at the Japanese navy, was heartening. Further price improvement ap peared at the start of the short proceedings and, with dealings fairly active at intervals, plus marks were well in the majority at the close. The Associated Press 60-stock composite was up .3 of a point at 60.7 and on the week showed a net advance of .8. Transfers of 370.000 shares compared with 320.000 a week ago. For the six sessions the total of 3,560,000 shares was the smallest since the period ending last September 23. Ahead on the day were Great Northern, buoyed by expectations of a lifted disbursement on the stock; American Water Works, at a 1945 peak; Santa Fe, Southern Pacific, U. S. Steel, Bethlehem, Chrysler, Anaconda, U. S. Rub ber, Montgomery Ward, American Airlines, United Airlines, Eastern Air Lines, Allied Stores, Westing house and Philip Morris. Grumman Aircraft, a long climber, dipped 3-4 on profit cash ing following a relatively pleas ing earnings compilation. In the curb support was accord ed Salt Dome Oil, Northeast Air Lines, Cities Service, Raytheon and Aluminum of America. Turn over here was 130,000 shares ver sis 110,000 last Saturday. ———V CASH GRAIN CHICAGO, April 7.—</P)—'Wheat No. 2 hard, 1.75 7-8. Corn: No. 4 yellow 1.08-1.12.
