C. Nichols disclpsed yesterday. It was pointed out that the City olans to use its alloted AA-1 pri ority, for maintenance, repair and operating supplies, to construct :he new system. According to officials, the pres ont system is more than 20 years old, and is inadequate to provide oroper service. Recently a short-circuit within he system damaged internal vires, and prompted City officials o take steps to obtain a new sys ,em. It W'as also pointed out that sev eral parts have been missing from he present system, which cannot oe replaced because of the obso ete desk and equipment. So far no bids have been re vived, but several firms have in jected the present facilities to ietermine what can be done. No ocal firms are equipped to make ;uch an installation, and no bids ire expected to be received from Wilmington. 1 Also to be received at the meet ng of the Council tomorrow are oids for sidewalk improvement south of Market street to Castle md from Water street to Seven teenth street. Officials stressed that eventually the sidewalk improvement pro gram will cover the entire city. Approximately one month will oe required to complete repair work north of Market street.
