C. POULTRY RALEIGH, April 24. ,— Of) — (NCDA)—Egg and poultry markets steady. N. C. BLACK MART HITS POULTRYMEN RALEIGH, April 24.—(A*)—The State Department of agriculture charged today that “hundreds” of farmers of the State were “sell ing their poultry to black market dealers at prices up to six cents a pound above the OPA ceiling,” and were thus doing permanent damage to the poultry Industry. A department spokesman said that as a result poultry processing plants were able to operate only about one day per week and house wives were finding it virtually im possible to obtain poultry at groc ery stores. The Agriculture Department statement came only a few days after the Raleigh district OPA headquarters announced that an investigation of alleged black mar ket activities had been underway in the State for more than six weeks. Basing his charges on a survey recently completed by the War Food Administration, Marion Dil day, the agriculture department’s poultry marketing specialist, said th&t out of State buyers and truck ers were taking poultry out of the State. “Breeding flocks are being sold and permanent damage to the poultry industry will result,” he said. --V- - News Coverage Is Major Problem At Peace Parley SAN FRANCISCO, April 24—(gP) _United States delegates struggled today with what some term a ma jor problem of the conference news coverage.
