CHRISTMAS TREE PROGRAM READY Opening Ceremonies Slated For 7 O’Clock Sunday Night The lights of Wilmington’s Hilton Park Christmas tree—believed to be the world’s largest—will flare forth at 7 o’clock next Sunday night at special pre-Yule ceremon ies highlighted by the music of a 300-voice choir and the taking of a Fox Movietone Newsreel. Jesse A. Reynolds, city recrea tional director, announced yester day that the ceremonies would start at 7 o’clock Sunday instead of the previously-announced hour of 7:30. The program will last 30 minutes. • Members of the chorus will meet beneath the tree at 5:30 o’clock Sunday afternoon for a pre-cere monial rehearsal under the eye of Fox Movietone’s cameramen. The Fox representative will also film some 30 local men dressed in St. Nick costumes as students in a mock school for Santa Clauses earlier Sunday afternoon. Men who will participate in the school have been asked to meet in the Community Center, Second and Orange streets, at 1 o’clock Sunday afternoon to receive last minute instructions. Reynolds said the children should congregate at the tree at 2 o’clock that after noon. The school activities will be filmed at 2:30 o’clock. Reynolds said today he was hav ing trouble procuring two huge searchlights, of the type used by the armed services.
