AUXILIARY MEETS AT IMMANUEL PRESBYTERIAN An inspiring service was con ducted at Immanuel Presbyterian church recently, when the Woman's Auxiliary held its annual meeting with Mrs. W. H. Allison, president, presiding. The meeting was opened by a prelude played by Mrs. Howard Littleton, followed by a hymn and prayer. After a short business ses »ion, an impressive devotional was led by Miss Mildred Horne. "he used the Auxiliary’s theme, “Christ, The Light of The World,’’ as her subject and developed it by using Holmon Hunt’s picture, “Light of the World.” Her message was closed with a solo, “0 Jesus, Thou Art Standing,” by Rev. W. H. Allison. The president then called for the annual reports and it was an inspi ration and challenge to hear the review of the splendid work done during the past year. Total gifts to the various activities of the Auxili ary and Church amounted to $1, 046.40. An impressive memorial aervice was conducted by Mrs. Allison at the conclusion of her annual report. Installation or Officers The new officers were then call ed forward and Mr. Allison con ducted the installation service. General officers for the coming year are: Mrs. W. H. Allison, Pres ident; Mrs. John Wolff, Vice- Pres ident; Mrs. W. J. Ward, Secretary; Mrs. M. O. Watson, Treasurer; Mrs. Howard Littleton, Historian. In addition to these, eighteen other officers were installed, including Cause Secretaries and Circle Chair men. Mrs. Allison thanked the of ficers for their splendid support during the past year and challeng ed them to attempt greater things In the new year. Adjournment followed the sing ing of the hymn, “I Love Thy Kingdom, Lord”. After this a so cial hour was enjoyed. Life Membership On Monday afternoon, preced ing the annual meeting, the Auxili ary of Immanuel presented to Miss Florence L. Bonitz, an Honorary Life Membership Certificate and Fin. Miss Bonitz is now convalescing following a recent illness at the home of her sister, Mrs. Bertram Quelch, Forest Hills. A group representing the Auxili ary, composed of the President, Historian and Circle Chairmen, at tended the presentation. Mrs. W. JL Allison, president, presented the Honorary Life Membership Certificate and Pin to Miss Bonitz in grateful recognition of her in valuable service to the Immanuel Auxiliary through the years. Fol lowing the presentation, Mrs. Howard Littleton, Historian, led in prayer. SISTERHOOD PLANS SPECIAL PROGRAM Temple Israel To Be Scene Of Memorial Exercises Tonight A special service, conducted in Its entirety by members of the temple sisterhood of Temple Israel will be held tonight honoring the memory of Dr. Isaac M. Wise, founder of reform Judaism in America, Rabbi Pizer Jacobs announced last night. Rabbi Jacobs said the service is known a* ‘Sisterhood Sabbath,” and occurs once a year in the temple, and takes place in the month of March—toe month of Dr. Wise’s birthday anniversary. Dr. Wi«e was born in Bohemia In 1819 and came to America at the age of 27, to establish pro gressive Judaism in the United States. He first organized the Union of American Hebrew congregations in 1873, Dr. Jacobs said, while he was rabbi in Cincinnati, at which time reform or progressive Judaism had Its origin. Since that time It has frown to be a most representative branch of Judaism in America, Dr. Jacobs added. In 1575, Dr. Jacobs said, Dr. Wise founded the Hebrew Union College of Cincinnati for the or daination of reformed rabbis and In 1839 he founded the Central Conference of American Rabbis. The opening prayer tonight will be by Mrs. L. L. Lucas, president of the Concordia Sisterhood; the preyus will be read by Mrs. Al fred Stemberger and Mrs. S. E. Warshauer. March 20—The Bolton American Legion Auxiliary made plans for the installation of officers next month at their regular meet ing Tuesday at the Auxiliary Hut here.
