He carried it about in his brief case for 24 hours before recogniz ing what it was, and at one time, briefcase and bomb were in a room at the House of Commons. Only a press of work kept Eden from open ing it when he received it. “When I first looked at the enve lope,” he told Scotland Yard, “it did not look very important. “I had not the time to deal with it then. Later, it slipped my memo ry.” The yard has warned that the bombs, small as they are, are pow erful and may be capable of kill ing or maiming for life. ROMANCE IS TOPS EVEN IN SENATE Lawmakers Come To Aid Of Tearful Brides-To-Be Of Navy Grads WASHINGTON, June 5—f/P—Ro mance is a magic word — even in the U. S. Senate. Senators proved that today when they went into emergency action so that several future admirals can be married at Annapolis Saturday. It all came about because of a clerical error. Whose? Who caies now? Several weeks ago, the Senate Armed Services committee put through the list of Annapolis graduates to receive their Navy commissions this weekend, and 26 were incorrectly listed. One was James Gibson. Las Vegas, Nev. He and two buddies, Elliott Dewey, New York city and R. D. Lochner, San Diego, Calif., were planning to be married Saturday after graduation. The error meant that their com missions would be held up. With out their commissions, they could not — under academy rules — be married. Tearful brides-to-be were re packing organdy and tulle, heading for home. Distraught grooms-to-be were wringing their hands. Gibson, or a near friend — no body would say just who — took his troubles to Senator McCarran (D.-JIev.) this morning. The Sena tor hustled the sad story right over to Senator Gurney (R.-S.D.), armed services chairman. Gurney polled the committee at once by telephone. The necessary changes were made. The correct list went to the Senate, and was passed.
