Supreme Court Decision
UphoIds College Trus tees
RALEIGH, June 5. —(A1)— The
State Supreme court today an
nounced that it could find nothing
wrong with the trustees of Wake
Forest college in accepting a gift
of approximately $350,000 annual
ly from the Z. Smith Reynolds
foundation.
The court also said that it could
to Scotland Yard. Eden, now sec
ond in command of the Conserva
tive party, probably had the nar
rowest squeak so far reported.
He carried it about in his brief
case for 24 hours before recogniz
ing what it was, and at one time,
briefcase and bomb were in a room
at the House of Commons. Only a
press of work kept Eden from open
ing it when he received it.
“When I first looked at the enve
lope,” he told Scotland Yard, “it
did not look very important. “I
had not the time to deal with it
then. Later, it slipped my memo
ry.”
The yard has warned that the
bombs, small as they are, are pow
erful and may be capable of kill
ing or maiming for life. One of
the first to be received appeared
to be in danger of exploding from
the heat and was dunked in water.
According to government sources,
three other cabinet ministers be
sides Bevin have been sent bombs.
find nothing wrong with the de
cision to remove the college from
Wake Forest to Winston-Salem in
order to collect the revenue.
“After all is said and done,”
Chief Justice Walter P. Stacy,
wrote in the court opinion, “the
case comes to a relatively narrow
compass. Is a contract submitted
for adjudication valid and enforce
able. Tie trial judge (Judge Hubert
Olive) thought it was. We approve.
“Wake Forest has had a long
and honorafe career, and whether
it nestles in a forest of Wake (coun
ty) or stands in a knoil in Forsyth
(county), its vission will remain
a quest for tru h and a crusade for
simple right.
“We would not deny to this great
j institution and those whose faith
I and good words have made it pos
sible, this vista of a new dawn,
this vision of a new hope.

conclusions entered below will be

ROMANCE IS TOPS
EVEN IN SENATE
Lawmakers Come To Aid
Of Tearful Brides-To-Be
Of Navy Grads
WASHINGTON, June 5—f/P—Ro
mance is a magic word — even in
the U. S. Senate.
Senators proved that today when
they went into emergency action
so that several future admirals
can be married at Annapolis
Saturday.
It all came about because of a
clerical error. Whose? Who caies
now?
Several weeks ago, the Senate
Armed Services committee put
through the list of Annapolis
graduates to receive their Navy
commissions this weekend, and 26
were incorrectly listed.
One was James Gibson. Las
Vegas, Nev. He and two buddies,
Elliott Dewey, New York city and
R. D. Lochner, San Diego, Calif.,
were planning to be married
Saturday after graduation.
The error meant that their com
missions would be held up. With
out their commissions, they could
not — under academy rules — be
married.
Tearful brides-to-be were re
packing organdy and tulle, heading
for home. Distraught grooms-to-be
were wringing their hands.
Gibson, or a near friend — no
body would say just who — took
his troubles to Senator McCarran
(D.-JIev.) this morning. The Sena
tor hustled the sad story right
over to Senator Gurney (R.-S.D.),
armed services chairman.
Gurney polled the committee at
once by telephone. The necessary
changes were made. The correct
list went to the Senate, and was
passed.

FOR FLUSHING
KIDNEYS
• Backache, loss of pep, getting up nights,
and headache are often caused by nothing
more than improper kidney action due to
excess acid in the urine. Kidneys are one
of Nature’s ways of removing impurities
from the blood. And when these impurities
back up, trouble may start.
So if you have these troubles, give your
kidneys and bladder a good flushing out
by taking Dr. Kilmer’s Swamp-Root. It
works on the kidneys to flush them out
increasing the flow of urine to help relieve
that excess acidity and ease that burning
when you pass water, helps that bladder
irritation that gets you up nights.
Made of 16 herbs, roots, vegetables, and
balsams, Swamp-Root is absolutely non
habit forming. Caution: take as directed
For free trial supply, send to Dept. Z,
