E. C. Sipe Of Charlotte
Named Superintendent

CLINTON, June 5 — J. H.
Crumpler, member of the Clinton
school board, announced today
that E. C. Sipe, of Charlotte, had
accepted a position here as super
intendent of Clinto;) schools.
Sipe was head of schools at
Bath before coming to Clinton live
years ago when he served as su
perintendent only two months be
fore going into the armed forces
of his country as a reserve officer.
He has held a government job
in Charlotte since his discharge
from service.
Sipe will assume his ne.v duties
or July 1.
Herbert L. Swain, who has
served as city superintendent
since 1942. resigned on June 1 to
enter a new field of endeavor.

Dr. Glenn, a former pastor at
Duke Memorial church at Dur
ham, will preach at the evening
services beginning at 8 o'clock.
The revival will continue througn
June 15.
Mr. and Mrs. Walsh are well
known in Whiteville, having ap
peared here recently in a special
concert. They will appear on the
evening programs and will con
duct a 30-minute period of wor
ship in congregational singing and
giving special numbers. The local
choirs will assist them.
Throughout the week, in addi
tion to the evening evangelistic
services. Methodisis will hold
their daily vacation Bible school
under the direction of the Week
Day Program staff. Classes will
begin Monday morning at 9
o’clock and meet at the same hour
each day.
