Edens of Scotts Hill, announce the marriage of their daughter, Hazel, to Irving Hewlett, on April 12th at Conway, S. C. Mrs. Hewlett attended the Top sail High school and received her diploma in 1947. Mr. Hewlett was a member of the 1947 graduating class of New Hanover High school. Miss Harrelson Mr. White Wed j In Whiteville Miss Hilda Grey Harrelson and Charles Devone White, Jr., of Whiteville were married Sunday -■vening, June 1, at 8 o’clock in the Pleasant Plains Baptist church. The vows were spoken before an improvised altar covered with smilax, entwined with miniature ivy. Burning candles and vases of white gladioli contrasted with the greenery. Wearing a gown of slippei satin with a high neck, fitted bodice long sleeves, and a full-length train, the bride entered the church with her father, who gave her in marriage. She wore an off face veil which fell from a coro net of seed pearls, and carried a prayer book, covered with a purple throated - orchid, showered with fern, white carnations, and ribbon streamers. Miss Nancy Lewis of Fairmont, cousin of the bride, was maid-of honor. She wore a levender net dress with a high neckline and a ruffled skirt, typical of the early nineties. The four bridesmaids. Misses Elsie Harrelson, only sister of the bride, Louise Stanley, Susan Smith, and Janice White Caison, only sister of the grocm, wore aqua and pink net dresses respec tively. Miss Shirley Norris. junior bridesmaid and Sandra Stanley flower girl, both wore identical ‘ white net gowns made on the , same lines as those of the brides- ■ maids and the maid of honor. 1 All of the attendants carried arm bouquets of red roses tied { with red tulle and wore matching ^ roses in their hair. Their gloves matched their dresses. Little Danny Edwards, son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Edwards of . Whiteville, carried the rings on a white satin pillow. The wedding will take place dur ing July. Captain Adams will be remem bered in Wilmington as the grand son of the late Robert Alfred Brand and Mrs. Brand. He is a great nephew of J. Neveland Brand of this city. Captain Adams is a White House Aide and a West Point graduate and is at present stationed at Army Air Force Headquarters at the Pentagon in Washington, D. C. During the war he was flying in the South Pacific and over the Japanese Islands and later joined the Occupational For ces near Tokyo under General Mc Arthur.
