The‘action of naming Fink as a
full time representative was the
first step of the newly organized
executive board at its initial meet
ing last night, shortly after the
state convention adjourned.
Special attention will be paid by
Fink to organizing clerks in retail
stores, a membership drive autho
rized at the convention.
Last night’s action by the execu
tive board was in line with the
adoption of an ammendment to the
state constitution. The convention
backed Fink’s stand at the recent
general state assembly at Raleigh
when persons declared that the la
bor officials did not speak for the
rank and file of AFL members
when he attacked the anti-closed
shop bill.

Funeral services for Albert
Brady Gore, well-known Safeway
Transit Bus Company employe, 52,
of 211 Meares street, who died
Tuesday morning at 12:15 o’clock
at James Walker Memorial hos
pital after a brief illness, were
held yesterday afternoon at 3:30
o’clock from the residence. The
Rev. Guy C. Moore, pastor of
Southside Baptist church of which
the deceased was a member, offi
ciated. Interment followed in the
Oakdale cemetery.
Mr. Gore was cashier in the
transportation department of the
Safeway Transit company for ;he
past twb years. Prior to entering
the transportation department he
was employed as a bus operator
and former street car conductor.
He has served with the Tide Water
Power Co. and Safeway Transit
Bus Co. for the past 28 years. He
was also in the U. S. Navy during
the first World War. .
Mr. Gore is survived by his wid
ow, Mrs. Winnie Gore; seven
daughters, Mrs. M. W. Watkins,
Mrs. Reed Smith, Miss Pauline
Gore, Miss Joyce Gore, Miss An
niebell Gore, Miss Annette Gore,
and Miss Ruby Gore, all of this
city; three sons, Albert Tilton
Gore, Irvin Harlee Gore, and Dal
las Gore, all of this city; one
brother, Henry Gore of Tabor
City; and three grandchildren.

will follow in the Patterson ceme

Annual Rendevous At
Naval Air Station
Four Wilmington Senior Scouts
were part of the 258 Senior Scouts
who spent last week as guests of
the Navy during the Scout’s An
nual Rendevous at the Naval Air
Station, Jacksonville, Fla.
Included in the events of the
week were flights in Naval Air
craft, lecture and discussion
groups concerning the history ot
aviation, explanation of engines,
hydraulics and radio, “flights” in
Link trainers, and a cruise up the
St. Johns River to Green Cove
Springs to view the ships of the
Florida group of the Atlantic Re
serve Fleet.
On Wednesday the entire group
boarded the USS McClelland, Jack
sonville's Naval.Reserve Destroy
er Escort, for a day’s cruise in
the Atlantic, where a simulated at
tack was staged on the ship by
thirteen TBM’s.

RED CROSS SCHOOL
BREVARD, Aug. 13 —— The
national Red Cross announced to
day it will open a 10-day acuatic
school to train instructors in wa

prevention at Camp Carolina here

sponsored by the Red Cross la Via
nation, is expected to enroll 110
persons from North Carolina and
surrounding states.
