As a forerunner of the two-day
medical symposium, which begins
at the Ocean Terrace hotel,
Wrightsville Beach Friday. Wil
mington doctors and their wives
have planned numerous parties
for their out-of-town guests—doc
tors and their wives from all over
the state.

bridge yesterday, when the Caro

weekly bridge luncheon. Mrs. Clif

The Auxiliary of the American
Legion met Tuesday evening in
the Legion hall for its monthly
meeting.
Members.discussed and voted to
partiality adopt five 24 - hour bed
patients in the Veterans hospital
at Otteen, N. C.
The unit also voted to co-spon
sor with the Legion a bingo party
soon arfter Labor Day, the date
■to be set later.

The third annual play day
sponsored by the City Recreation
department Wednesday was well
attended with about 275 children
on hand for the day’s entertain
ment.
The Nesbitt Courts recreation
center ran up the largest number
of points in winning city champ
ionships and was presented the
play day banner by Mrs. Eliza
beth May, supervisor of the de
partment.
Mrs. May also presented certifi
cates for winning of city-wide
athletic championships to the fol

S. C., was solemnized Wednesday
afternoon art 4 o'clock at St. An
drews - Covenant Presbyterian
church. Dr. Frederick Lewis of

program of nuptial music, and Ar
thur John sang '‘Because.” How
ard Littleton sang “The Sweetest
Story Ever Told,” following which
the traditional wedding marches
were played.
The bride entered the church
with her father, Adolf Otersen,
Sr., who gave her in marriage.
She wore a gown of white bro
cade satin, fashioned with a yoke
of sheer marquisette falling into
a soft roll around the shoulders.
Her bodice was cut on princess
liree, and her long full skirt fell
into folds forming a courl-length
train. Her veil of silk bridal illu
sion fell from a garland of orange
blossoms, and her only ornament
was a string of pearls, a gift of the
groom. She carried a bouquet of
white carnations and tuberoses.
Mrs. L. W. Pound wno was
matron of honor, wore a gown of
ice blue nylon taffeta, designed
with a sweetheart neckline, brace
let length sleeves and a full skirt
gathered over the hips. In her
hair she wore mist pink plumes.
