CITY HALL MOVE IS CONSIDERED Possible Advantages Con sidered By Whiteville City Council WHITEVILLE, Dec. 11—A pro posal to move city hall from n= present location tc new head nuarters in the water station building on East Maine street was under consideration this week following a meeting cf City Council Tuesday night. No action was taken but the matter was discussed, pro and con, by councilmen and was con sidered as a temporary solution to the problem of a city hall. Moving city hall to the water station building would involve remodelling the structure and the paving of Main street to that point. Possible advantages were the saving of rental on the piesent Vinildi . availability of parking spaces for these who do business at city hall, getting city em nloves"close to the supply station ' j r0Ssibl-' saving through in stallation of block cells which would eliminate cost of keeping orison-"S in the county jail. Citv authorities were interest pd in first obtaining information as to the possible affect such a move would have on insurance rates through a change in the lo cation of the fire department and were particularly concerned about an expression of opinion from c’tizens of Whiteville. Among other actions taken at Tuesday night’s session were a directive for the enforcement, of the hog ordinance and a revision of the ordinance speeds to allow 15 miles per hour through the city. An increase from five to lo miles per hour follows the pat tern set by Mullins, o. C., which made the change after a fire truck was held up by a long freight train while the cars crawled through the cty. White cloth made of rayon does not yellow with age._ J. I).
