when it was learned that the
current administrator of the in
stitution, Wifiiam Acton, is rc- 1
signing his post effective Novem
ber 15. and that the hospital's
board of directors favors the nam
ing of the “most qualified" man ,
to the post, regardless of racial j
designation.

tion has, long been a sore-spot ;
in the general public-institution

been tabbed one of Raleigh "big
time numbers operators" paid a
SSOO fine this week on being
found guilty of possession of gam
bling devices (to wit: numbers
tickets), and was given a 12-year
road sentencea suspended on the
condition that he violate no law
for two years.
The sentence, meted out by
City Court Judge Albert Doub,
was appealed to Superior Court I
