THE DAY that Fred Yoenfan won
the tree felling contest at Bea
ver Ridge, Maine, he decided to go
down country and become a golf
player.
’'Are yon quite sure that's what

see that!" he added pointing to the

father had a friend who belonged to
a golf club near Newton. and Fred
looked up the friend The friend's
name was Jim Estes, and he was a
golf enthusiast.
“So you think you'd like to be a
golf player, eh, Fred? Golf’s a.
serious game, you know.”
"I'm a good wood chopper,” Fred
said “What I like about goif is
that it's serious."
