40 of Route 1, Magnolia, was ar
rested by Sampson County and
federal officers Saturday morning
on a moonshine charge.
According to officers, Merritt,
on probation since July, 3.9-53 on
conviction of possessing and trans
porting non-tax paid whiskey and
carrying a. concealed weapon, had
a 1 ’ 1-2 ton truck at his home
loaded with two 75-gallon copper
stills, five 300-gallon fermenter
boxes, 500 bricks, three 100-pound
bags of cornmeal and other equip
ment.
