Morning worship at 11 A. M The Junior Choir, under the direction of Mrs Mary G. Pulley, furnished music. Reverend J. W. Fleming preached an awakening sermon from Ihc subject "To think in terms of Old Fashion.” It was also Communion Day and everyone enjoyed this part of the service. LILLY OF THE VALLEY Mr. Joseph Williams opened Sun day School at 9:45 and morning worship beg in at 11. Music was rendered by the Senior Choir un der the direction of Mr. Willie Henderson. A very spiritual mes sage was delivered by the pastor from the subject “Create in me a Clean Heart.” Everyone enjoyed tins message. SAINT PA I I. A. M E. The pastor, Rev. T.. S. sVon de livered the morning message. His text was taken from Coiossians. His subject was “The Outward Evidence of Christ Within.” There was a large number for the Holy Communion. We were pleased to hear that our sick members were improving: Mrs. Lula Harris, Mrs. Beatrice Williams and Mr. Fred Washing ton. Mrs. Edna Fain is in Saint Agnes, but is improving. Mrs Phyllis O'Kelly, superinten dent of Peaks School for Girls near Richmond, Va., attended the Zcta Regional last week and was the house guest of Mrs. Alyce Jones and Mrs. Mozelle Lane. WILSON TEMPLE METHODIST A large crowd was out for Sun day School which opened at 9:45 with the superintendent, Miss Nan nie Morgan in charge. C High opened Sunday- School with a large number- pre sent. The Senior Choir had charge of the music for the 11 o'clock ser vices. Miss Minnie Mintz was at the organ. A very uplifting sermon was preached by Reverend Moses Delaney. A full congregation en joyed this sermon. Afterwards Communion was served FIRST BAPTIST At 9:30 Mr. W. li. Taylor open ed Sunday School with a targe crowd present. We were pleased to have with us members of the Zot.a- Sigrria Regional present. Rev O, L. Hairston presided over the morn ing services. The Senior choir under the dir ection of Mrs. M. T. James fur nished music with Mrs. E. M. M. Kelly at the organ. An address was delivered by Mrs. Josephine C. Smith, an officer of the Zcta Phi Beta Sorority and of the .Ad ministration of Elementary Edu cation in Washington, D. C. Funeral services were held at. 2:30 for a long time member of j the church. She was Mrs. Myv ; Price Jones. The pastor, members I and friends of this church bow in 1 sympathy with her family. The many friends of Miss Er nestine Laws hope she had a very happy birthday. Quite a few new face graced our services on last Sunday and we are looking forward to these and many more in the Sundays yet ahead. The Pastor will be very happy indeed to greet you. The Keys Spiritual Singers of Washington, D. C. rendered a fine ntusieale program at our Church on last Sunday afternoon. If you were not there you missed a fine treat. The 2nd Missionsary Mass Meeting of the W. H. and F. Miss ionary Society of the A. M. E. Zion Church and of the Raleigh District was held at Union Chapel A. M. E. Z Church. Wilton. N C. on last Friday the 26th. The per sons attending from Raleigh were: Rev, and Mrs. W. D. Carson. Mrs. Cucy Foster Evans and Mrs. Annie H. Thorpe also Miss Flora McClean of Lillington accompanied us there. The Church School at 9:45 a. m. each Sunday begins our services for the day. Quite an enthusiastic group assembles with a very cap able Sup*.., Mr. Leslie Campbell and his fine staff of teachers. It was Communion Day and the Choir Rad the Processional with the singing of "Holy, Holy, etc., kneel ing at the ab'-r for consecration f ‘>r a gloat** service. Our Ist hymn No. 172 ‘'Come Holy Spirit,” was sting, lead by our pastor, the Rev. W. D. Carson. The respon sive reading was for the 16th Sun day. “The Law of the Spirit,” the pastoral prayer and choral response to! Sowed. Sculpture lesson was then read by our pastor from Exo dus 33:12-17 verses. The soul stir ring prayer was offered by Brother Neil Sanders. Our 2nd Hymn No. 410 ‘'According to thy Gracious Word" was sung lead also by our pastor while the congregation sat in devout meditation. After the sermonette to the Junior Church and tiie singing of the Spiritual “Just a Closer Walk”, the minis ter chose his text from the same scripture read. Exodus 33:14. “And he said. Many were our visitors on hast Sunday and we continue to extend to these and many others a hearty welcome to come and worship with us at | your every opportunity. j Morning Star ! Baptist Church ; BY MRS. SAMUEL SPENCER The Morning Star Baptist! Church had a wonderful service | at 11 a. m. Reverend Spencer, I the pastor, preached a spiritual sermon from the Book of Mala- j chi, His subject was “Praising! God.” The choir, accompanied by I Mr. Walter Davis, rendere the J music. Our regular organist,, Miss Davis, was out of the city to com-! pete in a musical contest in I South Carolina. At 8 p. m. Reverend Spencei j brought another soul-atirring j message. This sermon was taken! from the Book of Daniels. Maple Temple Church lews BY MRS. JOSEPHINE TERRELI. Holy Communion of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, was serv ed at Maple Temple Church Sun day morning. May sth. This service was very impressive while our pastor and congregation sang a very old spiritual, “None but the Righteous". The Altar was beautifully decor ated with lovely white gladiolas and snap dragons. We were very Had to have many visitors and they were welcomed very heartily by our pastor. Sunday School war well attended and everyone en joyed the lesson. The lesson was also explained briefly and very spiritually by Deacon W. M Hin ton and I know it cave us all con solation for the future. With a spiritual devotional ser vice the Missionary Circle met at 6 o'clock with Mrs. Hattie Perry, the president, presiding. We were highly entertained by groups in a song festival spon sored by the building fund of the church. The groups were the Hnr monettes of Wake Chapel the Boy!an Chape! All-Girls Chorus and the Maple Temple Gospel Chorus. Wc had a wonderful time. Fol lowing Sunday School, there wes a large crowd present for tho J1 o’clock services. Music was ren dered by Uie Senior Choir with Mrs. .Lillian Blanche at the organ. Invocation was offered by the pas tor followed by a chant by the choir, Rev. J. E. Marks read the scrip ture with Rev.
