How Hu homecoming' 1 Is the
j word around St, Augustine's Col
j lego this work and Wow! Was it *
Homecoming'’.
It began Friday night at 7:30 p m
with our annual barnfire and pep
rally getting everyone all pepped
up. We realiy had a nice barnfire
this year, because it gave every
one the Homecoming spirit.
Saturday morning found Si.
j Augustine's College overflowing
with floats, bands, and alumni.
The bands were the Darden High
School band of Wilson. N. C.; the
Henderson Institute Band, Hender
son N, C ; the Ligon High School
bard of Raleigh. N. C. Os course
{ the North Carolina College band
: came up to support their team
All *he bands were very good and
j the majorettes were “gone”. There
| were floats galore and beauttiful
J girls rode them.
The various clubs, organizations,
j and classes went all out in getting
| these floats. Yes, we Uhe students,
can say hai? off to Mr. Purdie

Wo.iL 1 guess you are wondering i
what happened at the game? Well, I
we were a little unfortunate this j
time, b’.s we are still going to !
F-I-G-H-T to W-I-N the next
game.
As I said *ast week, the climax
ing of Homecoming would be the !
better part, and to prove my point
you can ask any student on cam
pus how the social was Saturday
night and they will tell you im
mediately that “it was the most”. |
Seriously speaking the dance was !
very nice. We had a band thai j
was “real gone”. The “Joe” was i
the part of the band that was real- j
ly nice, for he sang very beau- i
ttful. He sang such hits as -Sept j
Song,’’ “Send For Me.' “Stardust,
and many other hit records.
Well, so Homecoming is over and •:
ail we have to look forward to j
are the exercises to be held on I
campus. Rut I will see to it that
everyone keeps up with what goer, i
on.

TEEN AGE LINGO
! Have you ever wandered past,
i a group of high school students
j gabbing, only t 0 be baffled by
| something that vaguely sounds
j like English' l If you have, don't be
j alarmed. It is English slang so they
l say. Let's take a look at this lingo.
| Someone who is “nothing but
j rool” enjoys the unqualified en
; dorsement. of the group. Similarly,
a crazy platter" is a record the
gang enjoys. “The greatest" sign
ifies approval too.
Rut woe to the personality who
is judged “v, k yd" or “not with it."
He-or she is an eccentric who
disagrees with or is different
form, the gang. What fatal design
ation'’
( V/X DOESN'T necessarily
refer to music. It ran refer to
THE CAROLINIAN
| almost anything of small im
porlance. lor example, (in a
discussion of school assign
ments): “'Who cares about iso
soeies triangles and all thai
j jazz?"
It is a wondrous world the teen
| ager inhabits, marked b.y feverish ;
j activity, violent crushes, fashion
lads and daily crisej Somehow
i they survive them all and turn
I into poised, pleasant and often
exasperating adults who. in
turn, will try to understand the
ways of their children.
But thai as they would he the
i first to admit, is "the wav the mop
| flops.”
