TRICKY w hiskey dispenser
NEW BERN - T Elijah Brown said he had a man install & tricky
tin uhi£k(-y dispenser in his home here. Police found the 15-galk ’
capacity container, qompiete with shutoff valve, built into the wall 01
n ne of the rooms. By removing loose board, the officers found the
unique setup About, a pint of corn liquor was in the container. Brown
charged witn possession of non-tax paid liquor for sale. He was
released on bond, just as he had been on a similar offense 2 weeks ago.
He is still awaiting trial on the first case. Brown said he wouldn't
pay the man the $lO. The man had assured him that the police would
net find the container.
GETS TERM IN GASTON KILLING
GASTONIA Baxter Lee Sheaiy, 24, of Gastonia, pleaded
guilty Thursday to a second degree murder charge in the slaying
of another Negro during an argument over a $1 bar bill. Sheaiy
admittel killing James Carter, 29. with a shotgun on April 25 after
thev had returned here from a. South Carolina tavern where they
had argued over which had paid $1 for their beer. Judge Susie
Sharpe sentenced Sheaiy to 20-25 years in prison
