These 4 years mark another ,
milestone in the life and services
of our beloved pastor, Rev. W. D.
Carson for which we are grateful
This week we are honoring him
on his 4th Anniversary for the fine
services rendered because he is in
deed worthy of “Honor.” as he to
us has been styled as one of the
“Great souls of Zion." We invite
you to come and share with us in
this anniversary program, because
his works are worthy of praise.
The services got underway at. 11
o’clock sharp with the senior choir
singing for their processional num
ber. “Marching to Zion.” _ After the
doxology was sung and the pastor
al prayer, followed by the chan.
“Hear our Prayer. O Lord”, the
Ist hymn, number 73, "Be stiil my
Sou!." was sung, lined by our pas
tor, Rev. W. D. Carson. The respon
sive reading was for the 46th Sun
day. ‘‘Reconciled to God.”
The singing of the Gloria Patria
was followed by the Affirrr.inatlon
of Faith, the Apostles Creed. Scrip
ture lesson was then read by our
pastor from Isaiah, 40th chapter
from the 9th through the 17th
verses. The inspirational prayer
wsa offered by our pastor. Our 2nd
hymn, number 301, "Guide Me O
Thou Great Jehovah" was sung
prayerfully while the congrega
tion meditated. The minister then
choose his text from the same scrip
ture reading, Isaiah 40:11 ' And he
shall feed his flock like a shepherd:
he shall gather the lambs with his

OBERLTN BAPTIST - Church
School got underway at 9:45 with
the supt.. Mr. Walter Curtis, in
charge. Worship service started at
11 o’clock with the senior choir in
charge of music, under the direct
ion of Airs. Elsie Hayes and Mrs.
Lucy Campbell. Scripture was read |
by the guest minister, the Rev.
and shall gently lead those that are
with young.”
The minister began by saying
that Lsaiah had reference to Jesus,
when ho said He shall feed Kis
flock. Not only does God call him
self the good shepherd but he says
he will feed his flock? ' Tills mes
th of salvation God offers through
end inspiration, snd a great mes- !
sage developed out of the text.
In the afternoon wo journeyed to !
Grace A. AT E. Zion Church where j
we shared in the Anniversary I
Services .with Rev. Sister Gary. |
This time our pastor chose his text i
from the fst Psalm and. the 3rd J
verse. ".And be shall be like a tree
planted by tiie rivers of water;
that bringcih forth his fruit in the
reasons. H:r leaf also shall not wi
ther and whatsoever he doeth shall j
prosper.”
Tha minister said I Only the 1
righteous shall be like ihe tree i
planted by the rivers: 11. Gods
grace is the water that comes up
from the mother earth that grounds
the tree; ID. To be like a tree
planted one must be rooted in
Christ Jesus, and thus we enjoyed
another great message.
Our thought for the week: "To
day, I will let the light and warm
th pf salvation God offers through
Christ enter my heart ”
The 4th Anniversary of our be
loved pastor, the Rev, W. D. Car
son, was a great success, because
he is one who deserves success. We
are proud of him as our “spiritual
leader” and certainly we are anti
cipating his return.
As wa leave for our Conference
on Wednesday, we go praying that
the Bishop will use his godly
judgement in reassigning him for
4 more years or even longer. He
has indeed been an inspiration to
all of us.
The services on Sunday morn
ing were largely attended because
the people knew that it was Con
ference time and os a custom in
the Methodist Church the minister
preaches his “Farewell. Sermon
even though he returns. The senior
choir was in charge of music, lead
ing out with the processional
number. "Am I A Soldier of the
Cross’" The Ist hymn was number
548 "For All The Blessings Os The
Year,” a special Thanksgiving se
lection. was sung. The responsive
reading for Thanksgiving was read
after which “Gloria Patria fol
lowed The “Affirmation of Faith,”
the Apostles Creed followed.
Scripture lesson was then read
by Rev. Carson from ihe _ 107th
Psalm. The prayer of inspiration
was offered by Brother Neil San
ders.
The second hymn “I Love
Thy Kingdom Lord," was sung,
while the congregation sal prayer
fully. 'The minister then chsoe his
text .from the same scripture read,
"O’ give thanks unto the Lord for
He is good, His mercy endureth
forever." Theme: "The Signifi
cance of Thanksgiving.” A great
message was delivered from this
theme.
In the afternoon the Rev. G. w.
Troublefield and his good people
worshipped with us. His theme was
“The Divine Way to Canaan ’
We are indeed grateful to Rev.
Troublefield for his great message.
Again we wish to thank all those I
who helped to make this miniver- j
envy a grand success. Keep pray
ing for us.
