Carson for which we are grateful This week we are honoring him on his 4th Anniversary for the fine services rendered because he is in deed worthy of “Honor.” as he to us has been styled as one of the “Great souls of Zion." The services got underway at. 11 o’clock sharp with the senior choir singing for their processional num ber. “Marching to Zion.” _ After the doxology was sung and the pastor al prayer, followed by the chan. “Hear our Prayer. O Lord”, the Ist hymn, number 73, "Be stiil my Sou!." was sung, lined by our pas tor, Rev. W. D. Carson. Car son, was a great success, because he is one who deserves success. We are proud of him as our “spiritual leader” and certainly we are anti cipating his return. As wa leave for our Conference on Wednesday, we go praying that the Bishop will use his godly judgement in reassigning him for 4 more years or even longer. He has indeed been an inspiration to all of us. The services on Sunday morn ing were largely attended because the people knew that it was Con ference time and os a custom in the Methodist Church the minister preaches his “Farewell. Theme: "The Signifi cance of Thanksgiving.” A great message was delivered from this theme. In the afternoon the Rev. G. w. Troublefield and his good people worshipped with us. His theme was “The Divine Way to Canaan ’ We are indeed grateful to Rev. Troublefield for his great message. Prayer was offered by Rev. C. C. Burnett after which the mission offering was lifted while the choir sang "We Are Our Heavenly Fa ther’s Children.” Deacon Holloway offered prayer over this offering. The announcements of the week and the introduction of the visitors were made. While the choir sang. “How Many Times ” the general offer ing was lifted. The offering was consecrated by singing ‘ oloria Patria.” Proceeding the pastor’s sermon, the choir rendered two very beau tiful selections, the first being “What Did John Do?’*” and the sec ond. “Give Me A Voice To Sing Thy Praise.” The theme of the pastor’s ser mon was “Touch and Change The pastor pointed out how if we were touched by the hand of Jesus that we would be changed from cur sinful and worldly ways. He also told us bos we must put our trust in and have faith that Jesus can touch and .change us. Immediately after the sermon an invitational hymn was offered. "Almost Persuaded."
