Ye:, We All Talk UARNINO A LANGUAGE When it comes to looming a language, we think of two ways. The usual one, in the ease of a person's mother tongue, is through bearing tt spoken continuously and by imitation. However, there is another way of learning a language, and a more scientific method, is I through a detailed study of each sound in the language, the grammar and syntax. Because deaf people cant hear, or their hearing acuity is reduced, they do not learn to speak, or they experience much difficulty in teaming to speak. Parents who have hard-of-hear ing children, or deaf children, should enroll them in a preschool class for the deaf. There are. how ever, hundreds of cities and towns that do not have such classes or centers for the instruction of the deaf child. For parents of these children. I recommend a book, "Language for the Preschool Deaf Child, by Grace Lassman, published by Grune and Stratton. New York City. This book costs $5.99.
